HOW BENEFICIARY FEATURE CAN MAKE STEEM BETTER ... and how @SteemPeak has created a UI for you all.

WELCOME BACK

Well wasn't hard fork 20 ... interesting.
We all survived and we're back to show off some awesome steempeak features before some new ones come out.

https://steempeak.com

LET'S HIGHLIGHT BENEFICIARIES

First thing to note... beneficiaries is seen by some as something you ask "Does SteemPeak or this other dApp have beneficiaries? I don't like them." We promise you'll LOVE this version of completely 100% optional by the content creator.

You can do so many cool things as a user with beneficiaries and we'll discuss that at the end.
But first HOW it works.

ADDING WHEN CREATING A POST:

  1. You can add multiple beneficiaries

  2. Please note the steem blockchain allows beneficiaries to be added ONLY when creating a post.
Also it does not allow any edits.

VIEW BENEFICIARIES

This is not new but just wanted you all to know where to see what the beneficiaries of the posts are... I suspect we'll see a lot more of them as they are now seen more as a valuable optional tool instead of just an imposition.

HOW IS IT DIVIDED?
From what I understand (blame @jarvie if wrong)
The ~25% curation reward gets rewarded first.
Then the percentages you choose are of what is remaining.
So far i have seen it include SP and SBD

CLEARING SOMETHING UP
Let's say: You commit to a 5% beneficiary to someone. Adding a second beneficiary has ZERO impact on that first person that 5% is still the exact same amount to them.
And for this reason I personally believe you should be able to add a beneficiary after the creation of a post (but not change or remove) But that's something I guess for the community and witnesses to decide.

Anyway you can see the results by going to a activities and filter by beneficiary

WHY?

  • Shared accounts
  • Contests
  • Charities
  • Content negotiations
  • Supporting projects / causes / people / SteemPeak. haha

What are some others?

GOOD EXAMPLE... Optionally supporting your favorite front end to increase development.

We do not use a mandatory beneficiary but if you want to support us feel free it does help ... mostly in the speed at which we come up with new things.

In settings we added an OPT-IN ability to support @steempeak with said feature. We are committed to not charging you to use our site. This optional support is up to you. And you can select this and STILL have the option for every post. #freechoice

YOUR IDEAS

Ok now my questions for you all.

  1. What are some really good use cases for Beneficiary system
  2. In the comments share good examples of accounts already using our beneficiary system to make life easier or better.
  3. We challenge you to write about some good use case scenarios for Beneficiary and link your blog post below!

And look i'm gonna give myself 10% for writing this post and 10% to @asgarth for developing the feature... even though he has no clue i'm doing it.

Awesome! I was thinking something like this should be done, but hadn't considered that it was actually already there. I was just thinking how it would be nice if you could set a user to automatically receive the payout from a post, rather than doing it manually, or declining rewards. I personally hate when people decline rewards, as that just goes back to the pool, which is full of abuse. They're essentially giving away carefully curated rewards to people that may not have been as carefully curated.

I guess they could give 100% to some good cause instead of declining rewards??

Yes! Exactly what I was thinking. I think automatically donating rewards is far better than just declining them.

I’m planning on using the beneficiary system to split post rewards with people I have translate EFL dialogues to Japanese. I’ve been waiting for this feature for a long time. Thanks for implementing it! Will post about it once I get things rolling with some translators.

love hearing examples!!

Comment for a late upvote of this post
Beneficiaries:
@steempeak 80 %
@steemchiller 20 %

An interesting use-case would be to reward co-authors of a post by adding them as beneficiaries.

Yep this is a really good usage for some accounts that have multiple people working on it.

Thank you @steempeak for your good dApp.

I like steempeak.com because I can use its bookmark fuction.
And your new beneficiary function seems to be useful to me, too.

But I saw somewhere else that beneficiary function can be added to comment too not only to post.

Is it right or wrong ?
Hope to expect your kind answer.

From one who does not know much about Steem or development.

awesome we love knowing which features you like.

You could probably make a comment have a beneficiary (not certain) how much would this actually be used is the question.

Thank you @javie for your good dApp ? steempeak.com and kind answer.

"You could probably make a comment have a beneficiary (not certain) how much would this actually be used is the question."

It's enough answer for me. Thanks.

Just now saw this post and think it's a great idea. Love the work you guys are doing.
