Mass Adoption For STEEM??? Massive Bull Run??? In The Cards But When???

in #steem6 years ago (edited)

@cryptographic left a reply to one of my comments that, in part, stated this:

I'm obsessed with mass adoption.

My initial reaction to this is simply wait. There is a long road ahead.

We are at the point in the cryptocurrency industry where development is taking over. While there are a lot of cool things, we are in desperate need of breakthroughs that are less interesting yet more important.

Before explaining this, here is a quote from a post by @wwf.

The other day I installed Bitshares which is a distributed, decentralized currency exchange to see if I could find a way to convert some steem to fiat currency on my own. Through the process I discovered just how complex this arena can be. I started playing with computers over 35 years ago and worked in the industry for over 20 years. I must admit, I really struggle with this new technology. The process is too complex and with too many steps to make it all work for those without specific training or experience.

https://steemit.com/ungrip/@wwf/can-we-setup-freedom-as-a-utility-and-if-so-should-we

This sums up where the industry is.

We are in the days before the web browser. People are still having to be on a computer that is on a network if they want to access information from there. Want data from elsewhere; et on a computer that is tied to that other network.

There is no interoperability at the moment. @wwf is not a computer novice and he is having a tough time. His experience with Bitshares is not uncommon. That platform is known for being rather complex. Fortunately, for those of us hodling Bitshares, there are some developers working on designing an interface that is easier to use.

Even on STEEM, we see the comments about how this place it too complicated. Many feel the interface is not easy to use. I tend to agree with that assessment although if one just looked at Facebook for the first time, that isn't the easiest site in the world either.

Nevertheless, @cryptographic's obsession is going to continue for the next couple years. Developing wallets, interfaces, and ways to store and use keys is going to be the focus of development. Simply put, the industry needs to become more user friendly.

I am a firm believer that the masses are on their way. The state of the cryptocurrency and blockchain world is consistent. For the last 6 months, the prices went down then channeled sideways. This might continue for a while longer.

What has shot up is the development. Since the first of the year, we saw development go through the roof. Just look at the number of projects on STEEM versus where we were at the end of the year.

I believe we are going to see a run in the second half of the year as the big elephant, Wall Street, is going to arrive. The run in 2017 was almost all retail money. We are going to see a different story this time. Wall Street entities are setting up trading desks and funds are being designed to start accepting institutional money. A few crypto ETFs were already announced. It is pretty apparent that their mouths are watering to get into the sector.

Blockchain is going to change society in so many ways. At present, there is not an industry that is immune from potenitial disruption from it. Thus, cryptocurrency is the greatest investment opportunity in our lifetimes. I feel that STEEM is going to be one of the leading blockchains because of all the development that is taking place. This puts everyone on here right now in superb position.

It takes time to learn what this is all about. There are many layers which, quite frankly, take years to grasp. The tentacles of blockchain and cryptocurrency are wide and deep. This is not something one completely understands in a few weeks. For this reason, remain consistent in the study of and the actions taken with this industry. STEEM offers the opportunity to really make a difference in your own life. To receive that, one must consistently post, comment, and upvote.

Getting discouraged because of all the noise will only harm you. I can promise you, when @cryptographic's obsession is fulfilled, and it will be, people will be kicking themselves for not doing all they could to amass more STEEM. Many are posting how STEEM is getting tougher to acquire as the reward pool is being diluted. We are seeing a shift from STEEM being a token for content creators to one for entrepreneurs. Overall, this is a evolutionary shift that will benefit us all. In my view, it will only make the value of STEEM that much higher in the future.

Success in the blockchain world comes down to community. This is where each of us has a vested interest in the progress of STEEM. By powering up as much as we can, we are showing our commitment to the growth of the platform. As more people join here, we will only get stronger. Some of the applications that are already here are breeding loyalty. STEEM has a very firm foundation with the 60K daily active poster. This is what it can build upon.

As more applications emerge and other upgrades are made by the development team, we could see a massive explosion in the activity. This , like the crypto run, might be towards the end of the year. Nevertheless, it is coming. There will be entities that bring millions of people to this blockchain.

I will leave you with this simple example.

Did you ever hear of Nahdatul Ulama? Neither had I. Yet it is a social media network of 96M people, mostly in Indonesia. They just signed a deal with Horizon State.

NU has projects and social initiatives all over the country of 250 million people.

http://bitcoinist.com/horizon-states-platform-usher-mass-blockchain-adoption/

How many other networks are there out there like that one?

The path to 100M doesn't sound so daunting when you think of it in those terms.

Exactly my experience. I am by not means a novice and am finding those systems confusing, to say the least. It's the other reason I'm excited whenever I see STEEM or SBD being used as a direct currency rather than something which needs to be converted first. (The other reason, as I've mentioned, is that it may help decouple the prices crypto with fundamental value from the speculation market.)

How much more we the upcomers.

The amount of investment being put into cryptocurrency does not match the development put in. This means the value of crypto is building while the price stays the same, for the moment. Eventually that big bull run will come to catch up with the actual value.

Crypto has been crashing time and time again to a predictable support line. The market is being tested and I'd say it's passing with flying colors. We haven't even hit the end of Q2 yet people need to calm down lol.

Well said. Calm down is key.

if there was something to look forward to, steem leadership is doing an EXCELLENT job about not communicating about it

On the bright side, Ned is discovering himself...

thank god he's getting enlightenment while the rest of us are twiddling our thumbs and watching the cyber paint dry while steem fizzles

What is it that you need to be told every second? They have said a million times what they are working on. Do you seriously need a daily or weekly update? Please. This will take years and decades. Why do you need to hear about every bug fix or everytime they change a minor thing? Like seriously. Geeks and Devs are busy working.

need way more education when most of the public don't have a clue what's going on // yes, a weekly update at minimum, in this fast moving environ, of course

No we don't need that. This is a Beta. They have said what they are working on. This is not for the mainstream masses at the moment. This is a testing platform. We are 3-5 years away from anything mainstream. The last thing we need right now is the confused mainstream masses.

True, but there are only about 30,000 regular, somewhat informed users. Seems like with a whole world of people geeking for technology there should be more than that here if things are so great... supposedly

There is so much noise. Too much distraction so people are very confused and divided. What was Bitcoin in 2010? Not that popular. Now we are 8 years later and it's still only the beginning. Things will take time. Grab some popcorn. The mainstream are sheeps. They have sheep legs. They walk slow. Also life works in a pyramid. That will say the masses will always make dumb choices and miss out on the big stuff.

I agree with that... I've been there! haha (-:

It's been a long time I resteemed a post but I'm particularly impressed with this one. In the last couple of weeks I have been heavily involved with #wafrica and #Steemjet communities. Steemjet has just one vision and that is global Steem adoption. It's not going to be an easy road to ride but together with some other committed members of the community, we'll get this place populated.

Right now, I'm looking at more investors and developers too. Developers are very critical for the ecosystem, when the crowd pulls in, we'll need to have things to entertain everyone. And I'm glad that a lot of platforms like dtube, dlive etc are already on ground. I'm very positive with smt, we'll have enough tools to play with that you will never be bored again. Cheers man.

Mass adoption is inevitable for blockchain and cryptos in general. It's just a matter of time.

What's important is positioning. Getting properly positioned before the raining day comes is key and it requires patience and self-discipline.

I see you pumping Steem every day... and I love it!
A lot of what you say is exactly what I'm thinking, and the rest is quite profound to me!

I personally think one thing Steem needs is a bigger social media presence. I will be working on this after my exams :)

Hoping for the best and I am ready for the worst;)

I am strugling to understand why the value of steem has not risen a bit since all these dapps have started and wanting steem power to help run then. Like steemhunt for upvotes etc.

Because progress is slow. It takes years and 1 day it's says BAM. And everyone screams overnight success. Evolution has always been slow.

BLOCKCHAIN is going to change society. Cryptocurrency on the other hand is less likely. People don't care so much about decentralization. Its a niche thing.

Any large company or bank or government can implement blockchain technology without the decentralization aspect, which basically makes it worthless for the rest of us. Only good for them. Am I completely wrong here? Not saying that crypto wont have a place...but this whole 50 trillion mcap and Steem to 100 and btc to 100k..hmm..I doubt that will happen.

I think this can happen soon too 100k one BTC .... and steem can go 100 $ too .

Steem is going to 1500 dollars easy.

:))

That is effin retarded. Don't spread lies like that. Steem will never have a market cap of $350 trillion USD. That is 3,5 times more than all the worlds stock market combined. More than all the worlds money markets. Just ridiciolus.

It may even go to $5000 a coin. Numbers don't have feelings.

Abundance is here to stay

While that would be great to see, a $1000 coin is just not possible unless the follwing factors happen. It could-just going to be really real painfull hard.

  1. Steemit reaches the level of Facebook+Twitter+Reddit+Chinese social site combined
  2. SMT are our own version of tokens and with oracles smart contracts are done. With this new liquidity source of steem locking to use the token + money being being pumped using steem/burned to create the token.
  3. USD has massive inflation-right now can't see it but it could happen. They govs after all.
With these factors a $1000 coin is in reach.

You are aware that there are coins that have reached $19,000? And that coin doesn't even have a product out!

Yes I am aware of that but they also have a set supply-steem doesn't. Steem is about rewarding people which would mean cashing out. Steem has a huge supply different than other coins.

Also I am assuming you are talking about Bitcoin? Well Bitcoin has a product it called being the digital gold. By tech? Bitcoin has the LN and RSK. By users? BItcoin has a huge community. By age? Bitcoin is the oldest and the most trusted. Bitcoin differs from steem as it is $ and ecosystem should build around it. A coin product sometimes is a coin,

Because you use feelings that is the main flaw. Math and numbers don't have feelings. Bitcoin will go to 1 million dollar plus easy. It's just math and scarcity.

Yeah, because math. lol. I just launched pee-coin. Only 5 coins. It will be worth 2 trillion each. Math man! Now I remember..we had this conversation once before, and I won. Not doing it again.

5 coins is not a market

I kind of agree with your point of view. But there is enough room for both.

Yes, preach it 😁.
I love your fire for STEEM
