A short comparison of the Steem alliance structure proposal

Introduction

The introduction of the steem blockchain has brought a turnaround in the blogging atmosphere. Personally, I have earned more cash blogging on Steemit than I did while blogging on my blogger site. Despite the numerous advantages of Steemit, we have recent a downward trend of the Steem currency in the last few months. The management of steemit.com has also had their own share of issues. It got to a time I saw a post about the company’s release of about 70% of their staffs. The company also got back some of their delegations and Initiated a power down that got so many investors worried. Truly, there was a need for the company to have proper management. It was these issues that led to the formation of the Steem Alliance.

Steem Alliance is saddled with the responsibilities of brainstorming and executing ideas that portray the will of the community members. These decisions are targeted towards the growth and sustenance of the Steem.
In other to carry the whole community along, Steem Alliance earlier put up six different proposals for registered community members to vote. However, as at the time of this post, the number of proposals have been reduced to five. The removal of the Steem United proposal by @jackmiller was due to the author’s request. This action goes a long way to confirm that the Steem Alliance is truly poised to listening and carrying the community along.

Below is the breakdown of the available proposals for your comparison

Main goalsThe main goal of this foundation is to act as an accelerator for the development of new self-sustainable projects on the Steem blockchain. To strengthen communities by combining economic incentives with normal community management. To make Steem the leading blockchain by growing and creating a sustainable ecosystem. To build a beneficial collaboration through a combination of the best ideas available while working side by side with Steemit Inc.To create an organization that encourages and support communities. This is the only proposal that suggests the collective investment of crypto in fiat.
Primary StructureThe primary structure shall include a lawyer and an Accountant which are based in the location of the foundation. These are the only two positions that shall receive wages. Other members shall include a 13(thirteen) member board team. They shall all serve a two-year term but has an option for re-election for an extra term. These board members can only be paid from a percentage of their successful project implementation.A paid 2-3 paid facilitators and groups of at least five Stemians with at least 2000 Steem power that are willing to work together. The primary structure as a minimum of 6 individuals while the corporate members can elect up to 3 members in each membership category. It has a 15 member voting/board of directors. This includes: 5 Executives, 2 Critical partners and 8 Directors.14 members
Leadership StructureThe leadership structure is made up of a total of 15(fifteen) members. These members are drawn equally from all the seven continents and one slot for the representative of Steemit Inc.No concrete elected leadership structure. Rather, it has a circle of administrators, strategic budget planning, funding through sponsorship and a circle for further development of rulesOut of the elected board members, there will be one chairman while the rest become part of the board members. Members can be elected into the board for a given number of years. The structure is made up of 5 Executives, 2 Critical partners, 8 directors and the Topical Sub-Boards/Committees.It is made up of 13 accounts and one extra core account chosen by the community. This core account supports and helps the 13 other accounts grow.
Decision MakingThe board members are elected to represent the community in making decisions. All projects are submitted by the project owner to the board for a thorough analysis. The board then decide which project gets funded. The already existing working circles review and either accept or reject applications from intending working circle. A new working circle needs the support of at least two or more existing working circles before its application can be approved. There is a strict voting policy of each member to 1 vote. This gives room for true reflection of what the members want.A system of public voting will be used. This will ensure that the general public gets to know how each board member voted. The use of agreed post, voting method or combination of both.
Funding allocationThe blockchain has experienced a lot of failed projects and there is a high risk of giving liquid funds to the project owners. This proposal supports giving 80% delegation and 20% liquid Steem to the project owner. This will help the organization retrieve the delegation in cases of project failure. After approval, funds distribution are saddled on the trustee working circle. The fund distribution is done in a peer2peer format. This exonerates the foundation from any legal contracts or liabilities.Funds are kept in a diversified manner. It is split equally between fiat and crypto. The board of directors gives 80% for executing the mission and purpose. The rest 20% is being split equally for the administration cost and the fundraising expenses.Funding will be given through delegation, Steemit Inc donations, low-interest loans and DOA from the community. The non-profit house in the USA will also allow for funding in the USA.The funding will be from the core account through upvotes. The core account will give daily upvotes and help the other accounts grow faster than the normal way.
Community InvolvementThe community get to choose their representatives in the board through elections and these representatives, in turn, speak on their behalf. The community members will also have the ability to ask questions on any project during the 2 weeks detailed report of the foundation.A detailed post of the activities of the circle is required every two weeks.A quarterly or yearly report is made public by the foundation. There is also an option for users to get feedback within 45 days. The public can present a request for funding to the board. They can also run a campaign to serve on any of the topical sub-boards.The community members will be able to vote for members and also support the project of their choice.
Transparency/AccountabilityA detailed report shall be presented by the foundation to all Steemians. This report shall contain all the project details, activities of the foundation and the interest of the board members.A detailed post of the activities of the circle is required every two weeks. All reports on decisions and fund-related activities are published publicly for the general public to understand what is happening in the system. This report will come in a quarterly or yearly manner. The foundation shall not vote for any witness or curate content, shall set @steem as a trustee to any of its account, make a detailed post of the activities of the foundation to the public. and the community can unvote any member that is found wanting. The elected members and the core account holders will ensure that supported projects are well analyzed.
