Steem Basic Income - Weekly Voting Distribution (3 June 2018)

Steem Basic Income

Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.

Still Going Strong

We are up to seven pools, so your upvotes could come from @steembasicincome, @sbi2, @sbi3, @sbi4, @sbi5, @sbi6, or @sbi7. We currently have 2653 members that have posted within the last 28 days. Unfortunately the members that are not posting are not receiving upvotes. There are currently 16696 'shares' in the program, and it grows every day.

Managing voting power around inactive members is an ongoing challenge. Since we allocate votes based on weekly voting power and weekly posting history, we identify inactive accounts as accounts that have not posted in the last 7 days.

The portion of inactive members in pool 1 is above 24%. Some of these actively comment, but not post, so they will start receiving upvotes when we finish our automation project.

Lately we have been more successful in redistributing the excess voting power that should go to the inactive members to active members, so that it is not wasted. With so many inactive members, we have only been able to upvote 379 of the members in pool 1!

@josephsavage does not post frequently enough to get value from his management shares, so most of them are temporarily assigned to @katysavage until the automation project is finished. Since she also has over 100 shares of her own, it keeps her at the top of the pool.

As more members begin maxing out the 100 share limit in more than one pool, we really start to see how effectively our voting weight allocation work! Look how even the top seven accounts in this pool are in their weekly voting weight received. With maxed out shares in the pool, and maxed out voting bonuses, they should be very evenly matched in their value received.

As we stated last week, since we capped management shares in pool 1 at 500, we will start to see @katysavage inch ahead over the next few weeks as program growth continues to create more management shares at 5% of total shares.

Pool 3 accounts voted

Pool 3 upvotes come from @sbi3!

Since members with more shares are actively moved up through the pools, the members that are capping out represent larger percentages in the lower pools. We see this very clearly here, with strong representation from @dynamicgreentk, @andrewharland, @thedailysneak, and now @cicbar, who has been actively growing his membership level in the last week.

Pool 4 accounts voted

Pool 4 upvotes come from @sbi4!

We have been using the @sbi4 account for upvoting member comments, replying, and making sure that any SBI comments with upvotes from members exceed the dust threshold. We see a small self-vote percentage for those votes.

Pool 5 accounts voted

Pool 5 upvotes come from @sbi5!

Pool 5 has reached its maximum member level and is starting to deal with high inactivity as we continue to move inactive members down from pool 4.

We are in the process of transitioning to a better way of dealing with inactive members (moving them to a holding list until they reactivate), so pools 4 and 5 have dropped below 30% inactives again. As we finish the rebalance cycles under the new system, we should start seeing higher upvote counts in each pool.

Pool 6 accounts voted

Pool 6 is almost full now. It has grown very quickly! The number of votees in the pool is very close to capping out at 487. Since it mostly has members with few shares and high posting frequency, the distribution chart is more even.

We are still starting most new members in pool 6 as the new treatment for members inactive past 60 days creates a lot more room in each pool.

Instead of distributing tiny upvotes evenly across every post, members in pool 7 will be capped at 1 upvote per day. Their weekly voting weight will be divided by 7 (1 per day) instead of their full posting frequency. If you post frequently and your votes seem to stop, please check all of your posts for upvotes from @sbi7. You may be receiving only 1 vote per day instead of upvotes on every post.

We started @sbi7 out supporting @steembasicincome updates to move the voting power away from 100% so that none is wasted. It continues to reach 100% periodically, and we will leave it on until voting power drops below 90%. This week that resulted in 2.9% of voting power going to @steembasicincome.

Conclusion

We currently stalled on our project to fully automate all the processes, which has negatively affected our ability to get out regular updates. Since we want members to receive their full bonuses from upvoting, the goal for how many upvotes are needed to reach the full bonus will be based on our actual number of updates, instead of our target of once daily.

Enrollment

If you want to get involved, or to increase the share of basic income that you receive, enrollment is pretty straightforward:

Just send 1 STEEM to @steembasicincome. Include the name of a Steemian to sponsor in the transaction memo (preceded by @). You and the person you sponsor will each receive 1 share in the program. You can sponsor any active Steemian, it does not have to be a current member. If you sponsor yourself, or do not sponsor anybody, we will assign the 2nd share to an existing member.

If you're unclear, please check out our full transaction memo guidelines and let us know if you have any questions.

The official currency for enrollment is STEEM. We are not currently accepting SBD for enrollments transactions.

Great to see the bonus reflect the post frequency for now. Its becoming harder to find comments and posts to keep 28 out of 28.

Its a shame your automated system isnt fully operational yet but its best to geg it right.

Yes, that's a whole separate issue we are working on.

if i vote all the steembasicincome posts, i will receive a bonus?

Yes. You need to upvote all of thier post to get 100% bonus

Thanks for the in depth up-date...and, of course, your support. Regards

I'll still try to upvote your comments if I can find one with an upvote. My .01 will just turn to dust if nobody jumps on it.

Sorry, if i'm listed as inactive, what does that mean besides that I did not post for a while?
Will I become active again when I start posting? If someone can share their wisdom. Still trying to wrap my head around this concept. Thank you! :)

If you stop posting it becomes difficult to maintain the voting power. This means a lot gets waisted. So to help with this they put you into inactive.

You should post at least once a week to get the benefit of owning shares as voting percentages are based on weekly upvotes.

@andrewharland is correct. We check the inactives list after each data pull to see who needs reactivated. So once you post again, you will be reactivated within a few days and then start receiving upvotes on each post again.

Thank you for being so patient! We’re slowly catching up with our SP! Almost There!
