Forgiving is not a task of the easiest for the human being. However, it is even harder to forgive someone we love, who we give ourselves, a person we trust and betrayed.

Every disappointment hurts, but the disappointment caused by a friend, a brother, a love, hurts us a lot.

The disappointed heart can throw us into a state of disappointment and resentment, going on to harbor deep wounds and bitter memories, making it difficult for us to trust someone again.

We would like to avoid disappointments, but there is no way to be happy without trusting, and there is no way to trust without running the risk of disappointment. To love is to open up, to become accessible, to offer oneself to the encounter, to be vulnerable, to take risks.

The people who were happiest, those who left more positive marks in the history of the human race, were the ones who most loved many with great intensity. They were also those who experienced suffering and disappointment.

At the moment when Jesus Christ most needed his friends, they abandoned him. After everything he had done for them, he taught them everything, everything they had together, they left.

The Lord can not count on the solidarity of the disciples in most of the time hard his whole life. While the Master prayed and died in Gethsemane, they slept (Lk 22,39-46). While he was arrested and assaulted by soldiers, they fled (Mk 14.43-52).

Only those truly courageous spirits know how to forgive.

And when you are praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
