Beatitudes: Day # 1 Poor Of Spirit
Blessings Brothers of SteemChurch, Thank you to the Apostle for proposing this interesting biblical study, the peace of God for all.
The first of the "Beatitudes" is: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven." (Mt 5.3).
What would a "poor spirit" be? In the popular such concept applies to the petty, the morally sick, impregnated with arrogant selfishness and defiance. They are the insensitive carnal, pulsating in their greedy hedonism.
But in the biblical language, Jesus presents us with a different, opposite sense. The respective, is a happy, a blessed and his Kingdom, to them belongs.
As well? It is that for the Teacher, the poor in spirit is the indigent person who lives in absolute dependence on the Father; it is that of the soul deliberately deconstructed so that everything is remade from God; he is the resigned one of heart that takes yes unbridled home and deposits them at the foot of the cross; it is what deadens evil and neutralizes it in intercession to the heavens by returning the curses with blessings; it is what silenced and quieted his heart, afflicted, insecure and anxious, bowing in the altar in blind confidence; it is what does not resist the perverse, gives him the cloak, the tunic, the mobile, the watch, the wallet; it is what does not claim rights, nor establishes judgments, much less leaves the sun if by its wrath; it is what goes in gratitude full of contentment, knowing that it will always be better to give than to receive.
Anyway ... Are you poor in spirit? Do you want to be one? Does the Camino still want, seduce, inspire? Or, like the disciples, he will say: Hard are those words?
Think of it and as a living beggar your spirituality, if you want to be "happy" (blessed)!

To be poor in spirit, is to be in a highly spiritual state. Persons are often in a spiritual state without being aware of it. In my intercourse with Christians, I have often been struck with the sad mistake made in respect to what is a spiritual frame. Certain high wrought pleasurable emotions are often regarded as the highest spiritual states; whereas other states, which can exist only under a high degree of the Spirit's influence, are nevertheless not so regarded at all.
