STEEMCHURCH - Stop Doing This!!!

in #steemchurch6 years ago

Dear Brethren,

We all know that prayer answereth all things and nothing is impossible for God to do. We also know that we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us, but there are things we need to stop doing to avoid being mocked by people from other faith. We serve a living Gid who has the power to make us get wealth, but that doesn't mean He expects us to fold our arms while manna falls from heaven.

For most Christians, giving their lives to Christ is all about folding their arms and pray without making any effort. Christianity is not for the weak, you must be on your toes. In fact, I don't think, there's any religion in the world where the followers are expected to be lazy. What am I saying? It's not all about "I am a faithful Christian, I am supposed to be rich and have everything that I need" What is God's plan for every believer? The plan to prosper and not to harm you, plans to give hope and a future. There's no place in the bible where it is expected of us to be lazy and sleep all day without having something doing or doing the right thing.

Check out these two scenarios - Story 1

A born again Christian who has been praying to God for a job in an international and well structured organisation, but has refused to draft up a resume for submission. He wakes up every morning to pray

"Oh Lord, please I need a job with Shell Nigeria"

Meanwhile, he doesn't have a resume, he didn't even bother to check their website for job openings. He believes God can help him get a job in Shell because He cares for His children.

Story 2

A born again Christian, who has been praying to God for a job in that same organisation, but he has submitted his resume, acquired the necessary certification(s) then, he prays to God every morning in this way

"Father, please speak on my behalf, let me be among those selected for an interview"

The question is, who amongst these two do you think will get the job? It's all about doing the right thing while you pray to God for help. Give God something to work with.

And someone might ask "What happens to unmerited favor?" Unmerited favour is simply "Grace" something we do not deserve, but got it anyways. We do not deserve all that God bestows on us; but He chooses to bless us and favour us as His children anyway. Why? Because His love is great and unmeasurable.

Check this out;

A born again Christian applied for a job that requires someone with 10 years experience, MBA and a male, but this believer knows God can change every situation around and decided to apply as a male, 5 years experience and a Bachelor Degree.
Now, out of all the applicants that applied for this same position, he was selected and was invited for an interview. During the selection process, he probably showed some flaws and lack of experience, but the grace of God was with him. He allowed God to step into the situation and finally on the last stage, the human resources manager said to him

"You did not do so well, but I see potentials in you. There is something inside of you that is charming. Congratulations, you have the job"

This is simply grace at work. What am I still saying? Get something doing. Do what is expected of you and leave the rest to God. God is a promise keeper, I am 100% sure, He won't disappoint anyone, but the question is, what have you done to help yourself?

You keep complaining to other believers

"I have been praying to God for ages, yet I can barely feed my family, my clothes are worn out, God has failed me"

Meanwhile, you sleep all day and even refused any offer to be a sales person from a family friend rather you'd want to be a manager in an oil serving firm after all, you have a MBA. Please, get down off your high horse and start somewhere.

In conclusion,

This is a wake up call to all believers who are very lazy and doesn't want to do anything with their lives all because they have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Master.

You cannot be praying for the fruit of the womb and not have sexual intercourse with your husband.

You cannot be praying to earn $100 on your post and just type "Hello world"

These things are not magic or rocket science. Hard work pays! You must do something not just doing the something, but also doing the right thing. Make an attempt for God to see.

Thank you for reading and God bless you all!!!

Sort:

For most Christians, giving their lives to Christ is all about folding their arms and pray without making any effort. Christianity is not for the weak, you must be on your toes

Having Faith without putting it to work is foolishness.
The fellow in the second story would more likely get a job.

Following the examples of Father Abraham, Joseph and even our Lord Jesus Christ;
It was never recorded in the Bible where they were idle or lazy.
That is why we all can refer to them as gems of Success today.

We would love to see more of you on Steemchurch discord sever.

Thank you for your contribution

Dear Brethren,

We all know that prayer answereth all things and nothing is impossible for God to do.

What is a _'brethren'? 😁 No ladies required?

'Answereth'?!?

I must visit Nigeria. You guys speak a language I have not heard before... 😇

Great practical and real examples. Original and creative approach. I love your strong voice and direct uncompromising style!

For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat."
2Th 3:10 NIV

Well done @ammyluv!

Hahaha! You are welcome to visit anytime. As for the word "brethren" it's not as if the ladies are not inclusive. It's just a word we often use to generalise believers. Just like addressing a group of people as "guys" it doesn't mean, they are all boys.

As for the word "Answereth" I know you're not a fan of KJV maybe that was why it sounded new and strange. It was used up to 13 times in that particular version.

1 Samuel 28:15 - And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.

Most churches in Nigeria love KJV so much. Even in my local church although I am not a fan.

Thank you for visiting and God bless you. You're great!

2 Thessalonians Chapter 3, we find SPIRITUAL LAZINESS … where some Christians had quit their jobs and were just waiting for Jesus to return. They were sponging off the generosity of the other Christians to meet their daily needs … expecting the church to support them.

SIGNS IN AN OFFICE:

“Work fascinates me; I can sit & watch it for hours!”

“The worst day of fishing is better than the best day of working.”

“Hard work may not kill me, but why take a chance?”

BUMPER STICKER: “I owe, I owe, so off to work I go.”

Paul had told them to WAIT for the Lord (He could come at any time) … but he didn’t mean for them to be IDLE – 1 Thess. 1:10

Paul had warned them to get busy while they were waiting – 1 Thess. 4:11

They thought that they were more spiritual than those who continued on with their daily life … they were busy designing time charts … in spite of the warning of Jesus - Matthew 24:36

"But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.”

They were OBSESSED with the Rapture … pre-occupied with the coming of Jesus … FANATICS. HOW DO FANATICS ACT? Like, if you aren’t on the same page as they are, you are spiritually inferior.

They apparently hadn’t heeded Paul’s warning – 2 Thess. 3:11
