Santiago was saying that the teacher has more responsibility, and the reason to affirm it is the grave danger of teaching something wrong. We are surprised and overwhelmed by the way in which many Christians allow themselves to be dragged by any type of teaching, especially in topics related to prophecy. All that some teachers need today is to have a lot of lip service. There are people who accept all kinds of methods, cults and sects, because they are absolutely ignorant of the Word of God. And we are happy for the growth of Bible studies in homes, as long as they are directed by people who have a recognized experience in the church, who know the Bible well and who know how to transmit their message to others in a clear and understandable way. In addition, such people must be prepared to answer the basic questions that concern the people of our time. There are of course very good teachers conducting Bible Study groups. Now, when this has not been the case, sometimes the ramblings of a group that departs from its goals and the teaching of the Bible, can go far, to the point of forcing the interpretation of the Word of God. On the other hand, other teachers succumb to pride and show an attitude of superiority to others.
And so it was that, given the dangers of the language, James was telling his readers that many of them did not pretend to be teachers; Do not think that the moment someone becomes a child of God, they can start teaching in a Bible class and, for example, start teaching a book as complex as the Apocalypse.
And the verse continued to warn those who assume the responsibility of being teachers: knowing that we will receive greater condemnation or, as another version says: "Well, as you know, we will be judged more severely." Frankly, it causes fear to be aware that God will judge us by the way we teach His Word, and we will be under His condemnation if our teaching were wrong. Dear listener, the greater your opportunities to expose the Word of God, the greater your responsibility before God himself.
