LIVING A LIFE OF LOVE

One of the most difficult thing both Christians and Gentiles finds it difficult to obey is to Love your enemies. How can you love someone who pursue your destruction, it is a very difficult thing but to we body of Christ should not find it difficult to portray such an act.

When we read the book of 2 Samuel 1:1-27, the Amalekite came up with a news of defeating Israel and the death of Saul. Many people were expecting David to rejoice upon hearing the death of Paul for he has been his longest enemy. That is what the world always sees things, many times when people we consider our enemies encounter hardship, people expect us to rejoice.

But this was not the thought of David,he did not only composed songs to lamenting the deaths of Saul and Jonathan but also ordered that the people of Judah should always keep their memory alive. David rather respected and honour them as fallen heroes and men of wealth.

For the Gentiles David knew that they will rejoice over the death of Saul and hence wished the news will be kept from them. David went further by cursing the place where Saul died. He continued praising the good things Saul did and have the name of his faithful friend on his lips.

What David did here is exactly what God requires all Christians to do. Love your enemies. But rather what do we see among Christians today..? Constantly we pray and set fire on those our enemies .this attitude should be stopped for the God we serve is love and expect us to be also loved.
