Steemchurch: He took my place on the cross.
Due to the sin of Adam, to obtain our salvation, Jesus had to suffer the martyrdom of the cross, but if we return to live in Adam, in practice we ignore his sacrifice.
Galatians 2:20
20 With Christ I am crucified together, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me; and what I now live in the flesh, I live in the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
When falling into sin, Adam ceased to adhere to the original intention of God, but two thousand years ago, when Jesus crucified our old man who lived in Adam on the cross, he by God ceased to exist. To please God, we must be new creatures in Christ, we can not please Him if we allow our old man to live again.
Genesis 3: 16-19
16 To the woman he said: I will greatly multiply the pains in your pregnancies; with pain you will give birth to the children; and your desire will be for your husband, [a] and he will rule over you. 17 And he said to the man, Because you obeyed the voice of your wife, and ate of the tree of which I commanded you, saying, You shall not eat of it; cursed shall the earth be for your sake; with pain you will eat of it all the days of your life.18 Thorns and thistles will produce you, and you will eat plants of the field.19 With the sweat of your face you will eat the bread until you return to the ground, because from it you were taken; for you are dust, and to the dust you will return.
What effects did the fall of Adam have?
The women began to give birth in pain, the fatigue of the man increased, the earth became cursed and began to produce thorns, even eating bread cost much effort.
The blood produced by the crown of thorns, mixed with the sweat of the forehead, the result of the fall, nullified its effects. The vinegar indicates that in Adam the plan of God was broken, but with His death on the cross, Jesus paid for all the damage done by him.
John 19:30
30 When Jesus had taken the vinegar, he said: It is finished. And he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
Death did not win, it was He who overcame death.
Galatians 6: 14-15
14 But far be it from me to glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified to me, and I to the world.15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision avails anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation.
If we want to be transformed and live as new creatures in Christ, we need to have the revelation of the cross, otherwise we will continue to live in Adam.
The first to receive this revelation was the Roman centurion who witnessed this sacrifice.
Mark 15: 37-39
37 But Jesus, with a loud voice, expired. 38 Then the veil of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.39 And the centurion who was before him, seeing that after crying out had thus expired, said: Truly this man He was the Son of God.
The perfect sacrifice of Jesus made our salvation possible and has an eternal effect. The redemption of each one of us is sealed in heaven with his blood and, therefore, acquires legal value.
The plan of redemption was completed when Jesus went to the Father, sat at his right hand and sent us the Holy Spirit.
Hebrews 10:12
12 but Christ, having once offered for ever one sacrifice for sins, has sat down at the right hand of God,
The cross reveals to us who Jesus is, reveals to us his immeasurable love, reveals to us the love of the heavenly Father, who has given us his Son, the most precious thing that he had and that deserves the best of us.
