What do you say, when things do not work?

in #steemchurch6 years ago

A short time ago, we reflected on some situations, mainly, in the current moment of our life.

Like, for example, the door that never opens. The journey of dreams, however, could not happen. The dream of buying a car, which had to be postponed for lack of money. That relationship that ended before even beginning. Frustrated attempts. Dreams postponed or canceled. Plans that failed.

Before that, we began to ask ourselves: Why did not it work, Lord? Why did not that job work? Why did not the trip work? Why did not the engagement work? Why was I not called? Why, why, why?

The controversial cure of the blind

John 9.1-41 tells the story of a man born blind, and a text that appears in the questions of the religious and disciples of Jesus about the blind man, his healing and who made it. The questions do not look much like things do not work.

The first question we ask is: is there a reason for everything that I am going through? And that was the question that the disciples made a Jesus about the blindness of that man. At that time, the Jews wrongly believed that every misfortune represented a punitive visit of God to some sin.

Unfortunately, some of us believe it to this day, and everything that happens with us is a cause of sin. Other issues that, if they do not do anything wrong, are immune to the problems of life. But we know that none of that is true. Not always the problems that surprise us in life are because of sin.

Who is guilty?

Who is guilty? In spite of the miraculous cure, the questions about the healing of the blind man continued. In verses 8 and 10-12 he says that the neighbors and those who have seen begging questioned the healing. They wanted to know who had healed that man.

Just as questions have been asked about the healing of the blind, we often have the tendency to want to find guilty for everything and everyone. It was so in Eden (Genesis 3.11-13) when Adam blamed Eve, and Eve blamed the serpent. We always look for guilty for everything in our life. We look for the fault of our problems in the wife, in the friends, in the devil, in the husband, in the children, in the church.

Why did not God stop?

Another question that can come before fatalities or situations that we do not want to happen is: why did not God do something to prevent it? In the story described in John 9: 9-34, the religious questioned the way healing happened, because it was a Sabbath and because Jesus was for a sinful man. Another controversy also arose, this time, in relation to the veracity of the healing, if there was no deception, manipulation. For how could a sinful man perform miracles?

Just like these religious, we often question some things to God. This is the result of several reasons, such as, for example, theologies or teachings that do not show the reality of life and that erroneously affirm that the child of God does not go through problems, struggles, difficulties.

We end up forgetting also what He has done in our lives, such as salvation, miracles, supernatural actions. Some reach the point of questioning both God and throughout the day.

And others believe that everything happened because they failed in the search for God in relation to what they wanted so much, that's why it did not happen. And he comes to think that God is not in sinners, saying: "He does not treat me in that way that I am living."

What to do or think?

Then, a question arises: if all these questions are not the best way to think when things do not work, then what to do or think?

John 9.35-41 answers our question. The passage says that Jesus made himself known again to that man who was blind and saw that his faith had progressed. Before, now, you already have understanding. Verses 37 and 38 show that the ex-blind man understands and confesses, believes and worships Jesus as Christ, as God of his life, his Savior.

Therefore, what God shows us in His Word is that, when the questions come - and they can come when things do not work - it is about God, keep believing in Him, adore always, independently of things and that They do not feel good Because those who do not take care of ourselves are not miracles, answers, conquests; in one they exist, in others they do not. But, yes, God, who always remains God, taking care of each one of us day after day.

It is an interesting topic, especially the part of the unknowns that we present when we do not receive convincing answers of what we are doing! We must examine dear Carolina!

Certainly, by examining things we can find an answer. Thanks dear brother!

Time to reflect, when something does not work,
but if you know what you want, you have it clear and you want it with your whole being, you just have to draw a realistic plan to achieve it. Without a plan there is no reward. It does not help to desire anything, it must be realistic and achievable. The fact of having objectives that you can reach and keep alive the desire to achieve them, makes you very motivated to achieve them.
