Before You Say I Do

Today of lot of people are rushing into marriage but a lot of them end up divorced. Divorce rate is increasing daily at an alarming figure across the world. It is like we hardly understand marriage but hop in when we realize there is the need to marry at certain age and at a point in time.

Marrying is not all that important but sustaining it or making it to last for a lifetime is the most important. It's like people don't really understand marriage and lack adequate knowledge about marriage. Many have taken the position of Adam who looks at beauty and other physical features in a woman or a man and forego the leading of God who instituted marriage.

And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. Genesis 2:21-24

Adam immediately endorsed Eve as his wife as soon as God brought her to him. If Adam could praise and adore Eve as the bone of his bones, flesh of his flesh and later on tried to shift blames then it means he never took his time to study the woman very well.

Adam was so happy on his marriage day to have been given a woman but later on lost everything because of the same woman.If he had taken time to study the woman and to know how to live with her there wouldn't have been trouble in his marriage.

Many young folks are so happy to hop into marriage when they have haven't prepared adequately for all the challenges that marriage presents. People go through marriage counselling before they marry yet many of such marriages soon end up on the rock.

Marriage is not just about counselling neither is it about finding a nice person you think will be a good partner. Marriage is about seeking God in prayer for His to direction. So before you say "I do" go to the one who instituted marriage, God.

Marriage was not made by man but by God and so we can't take God out of the equation if we want our marriages to work. Man's wisdom cannot only make marriage work, we need more of God's wisdom and guidance if our marriages should work.

Many people will say that God doesn't choose our life partner for us anymore because Adam blamed God for the woman but that's not true. God is interested in every affairs about our life and so He still choose or directs His children to the right person.

God never gave Adam a wrong partner but the right partner suitable for him. Adam experienced troubles in marriage because he never sought God's opinion or direction when the woman availed herself to be tempted by the devil.

The same thing is happening today and it is the cause of many divorces. People go to marriage counselling, conferences to learn how about how to make marriage work but neglect God. We will never make any costly mistake If we can go to God in prayer concerning any decision we make in our lives. Before you say "I do" go to God and pray for His perfect direction.
