Why You Should Not Cease Praying

in #steemchurch6 years ago (edited)

And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy. And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. Matt.26:39-44

To pray at all times means to pray irrespective of the situation at hand or the circumstances you find yourself in. Praying at all times was an important practice of Jesus. He prayed when times were good and when times were bad. Many people think the convenient time one pray more is when that person is undergoing pain or suffering but it is a misconception. The hardest times to pray is the time of suffering and times when you are experiencing real pain. In those moments one of the hardest thing to do is to pray.

The easiest thing to do when times are good is prayer but it can easily be forgotten at the same time. The reason why Job couldn't pray more in times of trials was as a results of the pain he experienced.

Jesus used to pray all the time, but there were moments in his life that his prayer life was compounded. These were moments he had a mental struggle or battle.

And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. Luke 22:44

He was struggling with a decsion either fulfill his will or his fathers will. Jesus had an effective prayer lifestyle. He was found and seen praying all the time and even encourage his disciples to pray continually and not giving up. Luke 18:1

Paul's Message on prayer

Pray without ceasing 1Thessalonians 5:17

Paul's message to the Thessalonians was simple. He says "Pray without ceasing". Have you ever thought about this" What will happen If God is to go on a leave for just one day", the devil would have turned the world upside down. The same thing applies to us, if we cease to pray.

We all depend on the world's communication networks, without it many lives will be lost. Our link to God is through prayer and failure of such link to God will be disastrous and catastrophic.

WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER STOP PRAYING

Since I became a Christian and learnt how to pray, I have come to know that the most frustrating and discouraging moments are moments when heaven is quite to your prayers, that is moments when you are receiving no answers to your prayers. They are moments you must intensify your prayers and pray unceasingly.

God avenges a person who never stop praying

And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? Luke 18:7-8

In the words of Jesus, he said God bears long whenever it comes to avenging and fulfiling our request but he gives speedy answers to those who persist until God answers. When He says "though God bear long" He means that is His nature. He is a long suffering God. He suffers long to see if we can have faith in Him and if we can wait on Him.

You get God's attention when you don't cease praying

And He said to them, Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and will say to him, Friend, lend me three loaves [of bread], For a friend of mine who is on a journey has just come, and I have nothing to put before him; And he from within will answer, Do not disturb me; the door is now closed, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot get up and supply you [with anything? I tell you, although he will not get up and supply him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his shameless persistence and insistence he will get up and give him as much as he needs. Luke 11:5-8

One of the keys to prevailing in prayers is Persistence. it is the act of refusing to let go or give up till a result is produced.

The parable told here by Jesus is a reflection of the very nature of God. You may be God's child alright as well as His friend but that does not obligate Him to answer you every time concerning that which you ask of Him.

God Himself a times may be silent to your request and there is nothing you can do.The best thing to do in those moments is to keep on asking, seeking and knocking.

When Jesus found himself there, that's exactly what He did. Matt.26:39-44.

When the church found themselves there, that's what they did. Acts.12:5

Our repeated and shameless persistence is what will get his attention. This principle of persistence is something that I have even realised in real life, that the whenever you worry someone over something he will have no option than to respond to you.

Unceasingness should be the nature of every person that prays because it a key to a prevailing in prayer. A person who persistently ask, seek and knock will attract the attention of God.

I say to you, Ask and keep on asking and it shall be given you; seek and keep on seeking and you shall find; knock and keep on knocking and the door shall be opened to you. For everyone who asks and keeps on asking receives; and he who seeks and keeps on seeking finds; and to him who knocks and keeps on knocking, the door shall be opened. Luke 11:5-10(AMPL)

In Jesus name, may you prevail in your prayers!!!

"Pray without ceasing" was a command to continue in prayer irrespective of circumstances we find ourselves. "Prayer is the master key" It's the ways in which we wage war against the enemy, we draw the attention of heaven to our situation when we pray as the bible described in the case of paul and silas.
Prayer is difficult in hard times yet, it is still mandatory.
Thanks for this great share! @collinz

When Jesus Christ came to this earth, he used to pray all and through that he became more stronger in faith. God said we should not cease prayers.

Hello! I find your post valuable for the wafrica community! Thanks for the great post! @wafrica is now following you! ALWAYs follow @wafrica and use the wafrica tag!

"Implore without stopping" was a summon to proceed in petition independent of conditions we get ourselves. "Petition is the ace key" It's the manners by which we take up arms against the foe, we draw the consideration of paradise to our circumstance when we supplicate as the book of scriptures portrayed on account of paul and silas.

Supplication is troublesome in harsh circumstances yet, it is as yet compulsory.

A debt of gratitude is in order for this incredible offer! @collinz

Petition has continually being the methods for correspondence amongst making and God.nice one @collinz for such a sagacious message.

Through prayer is the only means of communication by Christians with God. So praying unceasingly is very necessary

It is very necessary that we pray at all times
