To be an Elisha you have to serve an Elijah

in #steemchurch6 years ago

Then he got up and went after Elijah, and served him ", 1 Kings 19: 21b

There is a common evil of my generation. I say it with shame. More and more men, especially young people (although there are also "adults"), who consider themselves to be theological experts because they are virtual fans of great theologians, and whose heads are well inflated, but which are not really paying off. the local church. They have that tendency to criticize what pastors in their locality do or do not do, but they do not understand what a generation before ours prayed and fallowed, many at the cost of their lives, so that today we can have in many places the freedom to preach the true gospel.

This is the reality: everyone wants to be an Elisha, but nobody wants to serve Elijah.

It is always easier to complain and bitter against your pastor because he is not, does not shine, does not preach or does not have the followers who have the "great names of the gospel", who humble themselves and serve and bear much fruit for the glory of God (Jn 15: 8), loving him and serving His people in the place where God has you.

With this writing I want to make 3 calls:

  1. A call to honor and humility
Instead of silencing young people, I want to call them to honor those who were before us.

It is an invitation to our generation to be more than just experts in theological issues. If everything you know or hear on the web does not produce a fruit for the glory of Christ, it turns out to be more dysfunctional. It is no longer just ignorance, but arrogance. Being honest, if your pastors were one of these famous preachers, you probably would not even consider them for ministry, because of the need for humility to characterize the man of God (Mt 11:29, 1 Tim 2:24).

  1. A call to real obedience, not virtual

Virtual is by definition something that has apparent existence; opposite to the real or physical.

Unfortunately, many are guilty of apparently being super pious, knowing God, and you can read what they post on social networks or listen to their sentences, but in reality that which they know does not do anything in their life. And it is precisely of these men that Paul warns Timothy:

"Having an appearance of piety, but having denied his power; He avoids such ", 2 Timothy 3: 5.

You can have all the appearance of piety, and your publications have hundreds of '' likes '' on Facebook, or Retweets on Twitter, or Steemit, but if in the private the Word you read or listen does not result in obedience, that is, It has no real effect on your daily walk ... for Paul wanted Timothy to get away from you.

  1. A call to loving service to God and his people
Because of all that can be heard on the internet, many "Elisha" today become "tasters" instead of servants.

The one from Piper and Keller you hear all their preaching,

It's useless if you do not apply to your real life.

That of Matt Chandler you are expert,

It serves little if in the end you are dead.

My main desire is that God can wake up and make men raise their heads from their screens and see that the harvest is great and the fans are many, but the workers are few.

The Bible records that Elisha was used by God for spectacular things, but do not forget: he served an Elijah! Who do you serve? Elisha served God much more than we did, and yet he served another. I am also an aspiring Elisha, whom God has blessed with tremendous Elias (thank you, Juan Fermin, Abraham Sanchez).

If in a few weeks your pastor, family or close friends can see more Christ in your real life, then you will not have wasted this time.

Many people want rewards but are not willing to pay the price through service.

Elisha received double portion of Elijah's anointing because he diligently served Elijah.

He never stop to be obedient and diligent in serving Elijah.

We need to develop serving spirit in wherever we might find ourselves if we really want to have the mantle delivered unto us.

There's this popular saying that when you respect the old, old age will get to you. As we all follow the leadership of @sirknight just as Elisha followed Elijah, someday, we'll be in the position to also lead others.

A faithful servant is respectful, humble and obedient. They diligently listen to instructions and practice them. These prolong our lives and bring prosperity.
It is important that we are faithful everywhere we go and anytime. Our ability to do so will lead us to many places we have never dreamed of. The main priority in our relationship with people and God should be faithfulness. " A faithful man will be richly blessed,... " (Proverbs 28 v 20).

Elisha was a faithful servant, and he got double portion of Elijah's power.

This is true and very informative. More and more men, especially young people (although there are also "adults"), who consider themselves to be theological experts because they are virtual fans of great theologians, and whose heads are well inflated, but which are not really paying off. the local church. Another message burning @darlenys01 .. "to be Elisha we must first serve the Elijah that God put on the way. thank you for sharing this knew word.

That is likely why Joshua made such a good leader after having followed Moses. There was never a point where Joshua questioned the authority of Moses or thought he could do it better than his mentor.

The Lord says that whatever we do, we do it as for God, we can serve in different ways, within the church, outside the church, really serving our God must be a way of life, he expects us to follow his steps to serve to our neighbor and not wait to be served. Thank you very much for sharing, God bless you apostol.

The attitude of servanthood and humility is a path to God's promotion.

Deep!!

It is an invitation to our generation to be more than just experts in theological issues. If everything you know or hear on the web does not produce a fruit for the glory of Christ, it turns out to be more dysfunctional. It is no longer just ignorance, but arrogance.

Honestly, people might rate us less or more than what we really are, but the question is how does God sees us-- in our heart of heart who do will think will are?

Jesus said to his disciples, __"But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant." (Mathew 23:11)

This is the spirit Elisha had-- the serving spirit. And in ministry or whatsoever we do here on earth must hinge on this if we truly want to experience God's best in our lives.

Apostle @darlenys01 your post are always high-powered. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards.

Honour and regards to God's anointing and Anointed is key to receding from the prophet.
