STEEMCHURCH: CHRIST OUR EXAMPLE

in #steemchurch6 years ago

Christ our perfect example, we can see that all in the scriptures but I will like us to discuss more about this, in (1 Peter 2:18-25)

18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.
19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

word for today: "to this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. "

It can be very demoralizing when you make every effort to do good and what you get is opposition and suffering even because of the Good you have done. "if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God". so you should not give up doing good because you cannot do otherwise. You are custom made to do good.

Jesus Christ, our supreme example in everything, is again given to us as an example that we should follow in his steps. in his response to suffering, he did not follow the physical law of "action and reaction are equal and opposite".
"when they hurled their insults at him he did not retaliate", even though that was the expected response. And "when he suffered,"he made no threat" even though that would have been the normal response.
His response was to: "entrust himself to God who judges rightly". That should also be our be our reactions to whatever evil men do to us because we have done the right thing. The reason why Christ suffered is started clearly in v. 24
"he himself bore our sunshine his body on the tree so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness".

Prayer:lord,i want to be like you in everything.help me to be like you in suffering too
