Proverbs 23:23 Buy the truth and do not sell it

Remember the importance of not falling into deception to pretend to be who we really are or to avoid punishment. Jesus is the truth and therefore there should be no lie in our lives. Today we will touch on two more aspects with respect to the subject "Truth is not negotiable". We are going to encourage each of them to discover with sincerity and apply the example of the Lord in our lives.

¿Why is he lying? (continuation..)

1. Others may lie to avoid rejection by others.

Proverbs 23:23 teaches us not to negotiate our convictions. To uphold the truth of our faith and our values, even when this provokes the rejection of others, their mockery or even their persecution.

We must choose to please God, rather than men.

To hide our truth, or to tell a lie because that is what the other wants to hear, is definitely not negotiable.

¿What happens when to be accepted by another, we decide to lie?

We are simply putting that person above God. This can happen with someone we love or admire and it does not correspond to us in the same way. Lying to be accepted builds a relationship without foundations. Because when the person or group in question discovers the falsehood of the matter, we are exposed twice: for having lied and because we were not what those people expected. Therefore, let's evaluate who we follow. God is who accepts us as we are, loves us with defects and virtues, and encourages us every day to improve in every aspect to be light in our environment.

Everything we do, we must do with love and respect towards others. Giving the other what you would like to receive. And if the other person does not consider it enough, then maybe it is not the relationship that will build us the most. Let's not fall into lies to please people. Better surrender your life to the Lord and allow Him to direct your steps.

2. Others, they lie to disqualify certain people they watch or with whom they compete.

We talk about slandering others, telling lies about someone else to disqualify them and perhaps taking some advantage of that. Envy, jealousy and competition bring a lot of pain to family relationships or in church, and also in jobs.

James in chapter 3, verse 14 wisely states: "If you let envy embitter your heart, and do things out of rivalry, then you do not have to be proud and you are lacking in the truth". Very deep words. ¿Why do we do what we do? ¿How do we talk about who we feel is growing in the church? ¿Do we encourage or criticize it? ¿Have we ever fallen into any lie or exaggeration? We must be careful because our language can bring blessing, or quite the opposite. And clearly from the abundance of our heart, our mouth will speak.

We must bless, encourage and counsel for good with a sincere heart. If at any time we feel competition, we must go before the presence of God and ask for forgiveness. There are situations that the Lord allows so that we can grow in this area of our character that is so difficult to recognize at times.

3. Finally, others lie to achieve a selfish or greedy goal.

Lying for unfair economic advantages, dishonest profits or stealing / cheating.

Work in activities contrary to Christian values, or work by giving up our principles for profit. It would be contrary to our commitment to the truth of Christ.

This is to be expected of people who do not know God. But not of those who live with the Holy Spirit, yearning to be more like Jesus every day. In the story of the beginning (the man in the bookstore - The Truth is not Negotiable (Part I)), we see how the owner sees a contrast: witchcraft against the truth of God. Simply because if you put in a book the truth about witchcraft, which has nothing miraculous, but is a door that opens for countless demons to use us as puppets and darken our lives and hearts, leading us to a destiny of eternal suffering ... that book surely would not be sold as a fun entertainment. Then, the devil turns to lies: He tries to deceive us saying that with spells, we do not need God, we do not need holiness because with magical words, we can achieve everything we long for forever. And many fall into their networks, because they do not know Jesus, the truth.

Be careful with behaving in the same way. Let's ask God for wisdom to achieve our goals with the truth. And let's discard every lie in our life. And let us be careful not to fall into the trap of those who seek profit through deceit and falsehood. As the Word says: "by their fruits you shall know them" Matthew 7: 15-20.

Therefore, lying never solves the problem, but it leads to another problem.

Let us not allow fear to lead us to fall into lies. Better ask God for help and face every situation so that nothing stops us in life. Although it is sometimes easier to pretend that being whole, without doubt, reflecting what one truly is brings a lasting blessing. Do not fall into the lie to overcome another or to disqualify because we feel threatened. God sees everything and defends those who are pure of heart.

The apostle Paul says "(...) discarding the lie, speak truth each one with his neighbor; because we are members of one another "(Ephesians 4:25)

The sincere Christian does not consider the lie. Always tell the truth at all costs, ¡do not sell it!

The truth is never negotiable.

Sort:

Excellent post, the truth above all, because God is the absolute truth, as Christians and responsible people we should not speak lies, since it is not part of God, the truth should always prevail in our lives at all costs.
