JUDGED BY THE COMPANY YOU KEEP

Text: 2 Corinthians 6:14,
"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness?and what communion hath life with darkness?"

This topic should be sensitive to you because whatever you do with others is tagged " emulation ". Our text here is self explanatory because the Bible made us understand two things which are righteousness and unrighteousness.
What is Righteousness? It is simply defined as holiness,being in light while unrighteousness means things/behavior unholy or in darkness. The Holy spirit is light and would never associate with the things of darkness. There are friends you should mingle with and some you need to disengage from. There are two kinds of friends. One who is there to add value to your life someone of Christ and another who is of darkness totally,someone who has dined with the devil and looking for whom to destroy

As Christians, you need to pray to God to reveal the kinds of friend you need in your life. A responsible fellow who walks with bad gangs will be tagged as bad fellow because an adage says, "when a sheep walks with the dog, it will feed on faeces",so also when you associate with bad people,there is no how you won't be called one of them.

Psalm 1:1,
"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly nor standeth in the way of sinners,nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful"

The Holy Spirit has warned and taught us not to walk in the counsel of the ungodly, those that are not of God or we should never be seen in the line of sinners or not sit with them because they know they are for evil and wouldn't want us to be judged by their company. The text 2 Corinthians 6:14 is a food for thought and lessons we should all learn from and help those who associate themselves with bad people, also there are some thinks they can change their old friends simply because they have been changed.

Jehoshaphat was a godly king of Judah but was found in the company of Ahab,the king of Israel who was evil. They went for battle but when God's prophet came to warn him not to go that the war won't be favourable but he didn't heed to it but went and was clothed in a royal apparel as told by King Ahab but the king Ahab only disguised and dressed like an ordinary soldier. He only pushed Jehoshaphat to the front to kill him but only for God's intervention, he would have been killed.

There are two lessons to be learnt here;

• If Jehoshaphat has not mingled with King Ahab,he wouldn't have been attacked

• When you keep company with the ungodly, you are calling for danger

The ungodly lifestyle of a person that is making him to prosper shouldn't entice you, if not you are prone to danger yourself. They lure people to do bad things while they stay and once you put your head in it,you are in total trouble. An adage will say, "bad communication corrupts good manner". There are some girls who have lived a promiscuous life by their so called friends and have been in danger now and when trouble comes,these so called friends are no where to be found. Children of God should not be found where the light of God does not dwell in there,they should stay away from them because their end is disastrous because it is written in the Bible that the end of the wicked shall be destroyed.

There was a story of a boy who went out for the first time in the company of those who sells drug and are addicted to it. Unfortunately,they were caught and arrested and he was among them. His parents never believe it until news got to them. The boy came from a Christian home and was found with the ungodly ones.

In conclusion, check out the friends you associate with,stay away from anyone who practices ungodly act and be careful with the ones you go out with.
