THE TEMPTATIONS OF THE FLESH

in #steemchurch6 years ago

(James 1:12) When someone is tempted, do not say that he is tempted by God, because God can not be tempted by evil or tempt anyone; But each one is tempted, when of his own passion he is attracted and seduced. Then passion, after it has conceived, gives birth to sin; and sin, being consummated, gives birth to death.

Satan's model of attack

The first occasion in which Satan is mentioned by name is in (1 Chronicles 21.1). This passage reveals Satan's attempt to drag David, a man of God, into disobedience. This passage suggests a form or pattern of action of the devil against humanity that is repeated throughout the entire Scripture, can be observed in the course of history and is experienced by both believers and non-believers anywhere today. In that way of acting we can see Satan's most important strategy, his main objective and his basic purpose.
The strategy, cheat

First, we discover the most important devil temptation strategy, deception. The writer relates that Satan "incited David to take a census of Israel" (v. 1). (For a typical Old Testament perspective on the divine aspect of that satanic temptation, see (2 Samuel 24.1.) David, like his predecessor Eve, had no idea of the origin of the thoughts that suddenly appeared in his mind. And when meditating on them they seemed right, logical and necessary. Although his conscience evidently bothered him (verse 8), he decided to go ahead with his plan. What David was proposing was wrong, so much so that Joab himself, commander of his army who was not a saint, saw the error of his decision and expressed his opposition to it (verses 2-4).

It was so bad that when God's judgment fell upon Israel, David knew it was his fault and immediately repented of his sin (verse 8) by confessing: "I have sinned grievously in doing this; I beg you to take away the iniquity of your servant, because I have done so madly. "

Here we discover what we will find throughout the Bible. Human sin always has a double origin. It comes from a human source, the wrong decisions themselves, and from another supernatural, the temptation of Satan. The devil is the one who plants in the mind and the heart of man the seeds of bad thoughts and imaginations, intensifying the evil that already exists in him (Acts 5.1-3); (1 Corinthians 7.5); (2 Corinthians 11.3); (1 Thessalonians 3.5); (2 Corinthians 10.3-5); (Philippians)

What is temptation itself?

the temptation according to the scriptures is a desire, an attraction of the flesh towards the things of the world to the temporary pleasures. It is a desire that clouds our understanding until we blind it, making it yield to sin and thus putting an agony and sadness to our spirit and a chain to our soul. If we realize the consequences the only benefit is the flesh, apparently at that time, it is, but let us remember that when we fall into temptation, we will reap the consequences bringing to our lives an infinity of afflictions, such as; discouragement, sadness, sinful acts, greed, greed, lies, theft, disobedience, gossip, jealousy, lusts, drunkenness, vices, etc.

· Concluding that all these acts are the same as the fruits of the flesh
· Of which speaks to writing. In (Galatians 5:16)

I say, then: Walk in the Spirit, and do not satisfy the lust of the flesh, 17for the desire of the flesh is against the Spirit and that of the Spirit is against the flesh; and these are opposed to each other, so that you do not do what you would like. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law. 19 Manifest are the works of the flesh, which are adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lust, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, anger, strife, divisions, heresies. , 21 envy, homicide, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. Regarding this, I warn you, as I have told you before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. (Revelation 18:14) The fruits coveted by your soul departed from you, and all the exquisite and splendid things have been lacking and you will never find them again.

· Temptation is a weapon of Satan, of the world, and of our own flesh, it is very dangerous for our spiritual life, it is a barrier or abyss that stands in the way of the Christian towards obedience to Christ and towards the salvation of our souls, it is a constant struggle in the Christian, it is an attraction towards the sinful life that we had behind, it is a roaring lion looking for someone to devour, because once it is caressed in the heart, it produces sin and it produces the fall and the fall produces death. (first comes spiritual death and then physical death,)

· With these definitions of temptation we realize that it is not a game, to give in to temptation, examples of this we have in the whole Bible

The case of Eve and Adam who were spiritually destroyed.

Two Examples of the New Testament on Temptation?

(1 Thessalonians 3: 4) 5That is why I too, unable to bear more, sent to inform me of your faith, for I feared that the tempter would have tempted you and that our work would have been in vain.

· In this Text Paul thought that the tempter could have undone the work for which he had worked so much and that means that a single test of the tempter is enough to liquidate a Christian. And why do I mention this? Let's say, for example, the temptation of Judas and Pedro.

(Mark 14:10) 10Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests to give him to him. 11They, hearing it, rejoiced and promised to give him money. And Judas was looking for an opportunity to deliver it.

(Matthew 27: 3) 3Then Judas, the one who had given him up, seeing that he was condemned, returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders, repeating: "I have sinned by giving innocent blood.

How did Satan use Judas Iscariot and Peter?

(Acts 1:16) 6-Brothers, it was necessary that the Scripture be fulfilled that the Holy Spirit, through the mouth of David, had announced about Judas,

(John18: 2) 2 And Judas also, the one who delivered him, knew that place, because Jesus had often met there with his disciples.

(John 13: 2) 2And when they were eating, as the devil had already put in the heart of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon who delivered him,

(John 26: 5) 14Then one of the twelve, whose name was Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said to them, "What do you want to give me, and I will give him to you?

(John 12: 4) 4He said one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot son of Simon, who was to deliver him up: 5-Why did not this perfume be sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor? 6But he said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief and, taking the bag, stole what was thrown into it.

· The Bible mentions that, Judas was carrying the money bag, ministering it as a kind of treasurer and stealing from it; besides, he does not mention any profession that he exercised, therefore we could suppose that he was completely carnal (in a figurative sense it was the tares within the wheat) remember that in those times the poverty was as extreme as in the days of today or worse.
· The temptation of Judas was because of money, the Bible does not say much about the life of Judas, but what little he says shows us that he was weak to greed. And Jesus knew his heart so he knew that he was giving entrance to the devil to act in it, it was logical that once he used it came out of him, for which came repentance, but he did not know how to act in the face of temptation and suicide, doing justice in a wrong way again giving rise to the devil to take his life.

It is also when Jesus was tempted by Satan

The worst mistake of the believer is to think that his flesh will not be tempted. He must know that although his spirit belongs to God, his flesh lives in the midst of a world full of temptations. Sin will always be pleasant to the eyes, temptation is pleasant and attractive, but loving Jesus is the best antidote against them.

Matthew 4: 3: "And the tempter came to him, and said to him, If you are the Son of God, say that these stones should become bread"

The Holy Spirit tempts no one, Satan is the tempter. God does not make you fall into temptation, he saves you and delivers you from it.

When Satan tempted Jesus with bread after his 40 days of fasting, Jesus was tempted in his human nature but he won by citing the Word of God, reminding Satan that man not only lives on food but on every word that God puts on him. its mouth. Understanding that we are more spiritual than carnal gives us the strength to overcome all temptation. The believer's victory is in satisfying his spirit more than his flesh. Only in this way can a generation be raised that overcomes all temptation and serves Jesus with boldness.

You reach your highest level of influence by serving. Jesus served to be influential.

Satan tempted Jesus with the boastfulness of life, offering him every possession on earth in exchange for worshiping him prostrate. Jesus overcame this temptation by reminding Satan that he should only love and obey God the Father. Satan wants you to violate the form and time that God has designed for you and what He wants to give you. For example, whoever wants money can work and be blessed by God or he can commit a crime and be cursed by losing his values and his salvation. The way of Satan will always bring destruction.

Satan can speak to you through people close to you. When you accuse a brother, you act in the line of Satan. Jesus rebuked Peter when he focused on the issues of the earth and not those of heaven, warning him that he was walking in Satan's line. Every believer must remember that there should be no eagerness for what he needs, but "seek the Kingdom of God and his justice and all other things will be added."

Matthew 4: 6: "and said to him: If you are the Son of God, cast yourself down; for it is written, He will command his angels about you, they will hold you up in their hands, so that you will not stumble with your foot on stone. "

Everyone who serves Jesus is prone to fall and he who aspires to be great in the temple every day will be tested in his faith. Therefore, it is better to serve the brother than to concentrate on reaching higher. We must imitate Jesus who never wanted anything that God has not provided, because the one who worries risks taking things that are given by Satan and not by God.

Satan knows that Jesus has the unique design to transform everything he touches. The Gospel and the message of Jesus is to say to sin: "I no longer love you, I love Jesus". Do not turn away from sin out of fear of condemnation, but out of love for Christ. God wants men and women who stand upright and with faith every temptation, sin and circumstance.

The temptation is to make you waste your time and deviate from God's plan for your life. We must overcome all temptation with faith. When you make the decision to love Jesus, you will have the strength to get out of any path of destruction. Sin is Satan's greatest instrument to destroy you, make you fall and feel unworthy of God and his power of restoration. He who knows the mechanism of the spiritual battle and knows that it is during all of life, is more likely to use the spiritual weapons given by Christ to overcome, despite our weaknesses.
