HAPPINESS WITHOUT JOY

Can there really be happiness without joy? Is it possible for one to be happy without joyful?
As have been said in previous study, happiness is that excitement you get when you receive a gift from man or blessing from God; while joy is that peace, contentment or satisfaction that flows within you from His presence.
Now, if we say that there can be happiness without joy, then; how can you explain the scripture that says: the blessing of the lord, he maketh rich and added no sorrow with it? Proverbs 10:22.

Moreover, if we say that there cannot be happiness without joy; does that mean that any gift or blessing anyone received from either man or God or even the devil that causes him or her excitement or happiness is the will of God concerning such a one; and as a result: he or she would live peaceably or joyfully with
For instance, if you compromise your faith to receive a gift from man (such as money, car, job or clothing); that will obviously make you happy. The question now is; can this happiness breed the satisfaction and the peace of God in you (which is joy)? Certainly not!

Also, how possible it is for God to bless you with money or any material thing and it eventually distorts your relationship with Him and perhaps, destruction to you? As can be reflected when the children of Israel received manna from God: And there went forth a wind from the Lord , and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, as it were a day's journey on this side, and as it were a day's journey on the other side, round about the camp, and as it were two cubits high upon the face of the earth.
And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the Lord was kindled against the people, and the Lord smote the people with a very great plague. Numbers 11:31,33.

See, the purported blessing came from the Lord but was destructive to them. That is, when they were gathering the manna, they were so full of happiness and excitement; however judgment and sorrow later followed. It follows that the manna or blessing that gave them happiness could not invariably give them joy.

Dear, it does not mean that happiness does not lead to joy. In some cases, it leads to joy, while in some other cases; it does not lead to joy. When happiness (gifts or blessings) is the prod-
uct of the will of God, be sure that it will breed joy. But if it falls short of God's will, then; expect the less.

See, our God is a God of purpose. He does not just bless indiscriminately. If you compel Him against His will, you may end up

sorrowful even with His provisions. And as for the children of Israel, they murmured their needs unto the Lord. The Lord, however; blessed them and bruised them in return.
See, while obedience brings a blessing, disobedience could also bring a blessing follow up by a curse.

Besides, Baalam is another case. He was pulling the legs of God to go ahead to do something against His will. God refused him, but for his persistence, he was instructed to go. However, the same God that instructed him to go sent His Angel to stop him on his way (Numbers 22).

King Hezekiah was another character who was given the gift of life of an additional 15years, when God at first had wanted to take him home. This happiness of the gift of life never breeds peace and joy to him and the future generation.
The future generation was devastated by his quest for the gift of life. Thus, within that 15years he gave birth to a son who later became the most wicked and idolatrous king of Israel (Il Kings ).
Honey, the will of God is what makes happiness breeds joy. When happiness either from man or God is within the frame work of his will, be sure that joyfulness becomes the order of the day.

Lastly, in reacting to the scriptures that says the blessing of the Lord makes rich and adds no sorrow. It should be noted that not all gifts, provisions or happiness that are blessings of God.
The true blessings of God are those that are His will and that flows from His presence; and such blessings, leave you with joy and the rejoicing of your heart. Glory!
