Measuring our Character

Good evening everyone, God bless their lives, today I want to share a brief teaching based on measuring our character as children of God.

Ecclesiastes 7: 9 Reina-Valera 1960 (RVR1960) says: "Do not hurry in your spirit to get angry ; because anger rests in the bosom of fools". According to what the Bible says we can say that none of us should feel anger, anger, walk in lawsuits or strife that in turn are part of the fruits of the flesh. The demand of the word of God is felt in our hearts, because this doctrine penetrates to the deepest part of our being, shaping us in the image and likeness of Jesus Christ, taking us from glory to glory. Let's read the following Scripture portion located in the new testament in the letter to the Galatian church, which was written by the apostle Paul (formerly Saul of Tarsus).

Galatians 5:17 The works of the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit
16 I say, then: Walk in the Spirit, and do not fulfill the desires of the flesh.
17 For the lust of the flesh is against the Spirit, and the desire of the Spirit is against the flesh; and these are opposed to each other, so that you do not do what you want.
18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
19 And manifest are the works of the flesh, which are adultery, fornication, filth, lewdness,
20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger, strife, dissensions, heresies,
21 envy, homicide, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; about which I admonish you, as I have told you before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith,
23 meekness, temperance; Against such things there is no law.
24 But those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with their passions and desires.
25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
26 Let us not become vainglorious, provoking one another, envying one another.

If we observe well there are very clear features that identify a person who is walking with the Holy Spirit as well as those who walk in the flesh, two totally opposite poles that indicate who we serve at a given time. No doubt all those who have decided to please God from the heart have the Holy Spirit and have begun a path of perfection, but although we have the Lord in our hearts we do not stop fighting against an enemy that is still very close and is our flesh.

The question that arises is: when do we know that we are doing God's will? When our life is being pleasing to the Lord? If you want to know how to make God happy, read the scripture because that is where the perfect rod of God will measure us and indicate how holy we are, because after all who can hide before him? No being in the universe can hide or jump the precepts of the creator, this is why following Jesus is not easy but if possible, the key is to deny ourselves leaving the old nature, it is necessary to pray, fast, attend to a church to be taught and in this way we will grow spiritually.

Sort:

Walking in the spirit and not satisfying the desires of the flesh is the mandate of God for our lives.
