HOLDING FORTH THE WORLD OF LIFE TILL THE DAY OF CHRIST
You Are Different.
Phil 2: 14-16 “Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.”
Paul continues, through the Spirit, saying that “doing all things without murmuring and disputing” makes us blameless and harmless, that is the express image of the invisible God. What does it mean to be blameless and harmless and by whose standard? According to the original text, to be blameless and harmless means to be without fault and deceit; no iota of defect and pure from all that stains! Imagine the reward of responding positively to the Word. It places us in a position void of fault finding and without ulterior motives. By whose standard? By the standards of a Holy God. It means when God’s light shines over your actions, scrutinizing your motives, He will find you blameless and harmless because you’re walking in his light. Amazing reality!
The Word goes on to say that we are without rebuke; again implying that we are blameless, faultless in the eyes of a Holy God. The interesting thing is that we are able to do all these things in a crooked and perverse world! It means contrary to the opinion of many, it is possible to maintain your white vesture in this world yet not through your own power but by Christ that purifies us daily by his blood. We can remain pure, unpolluted, unadulterated, even in this harsh worldly environment where we live and interact daily. The Word calls this world, “a crooked and perverse world”. We will have opportunity to take a look at what those mean later.
The summary for this post, it is our responsibility to keep our garment unspotted by the world by constantly fixing ourselves inside the grace that purifies. You are the greater light in a dark world!
