Mission of the Church and need of the world is evangelization.

The Gospel is the message of the holy God to sinful men. It is the message of the heaven of light to those on earth who are sunk in darkness. It is the message that reached the lost, transformed them and through them is transmitted to the world. Evangelization is a glorious task that has not been granted to angels. It is a mission that only the Church has been entrusted with. No human entity can perform it. No other message can replace it. At the same time that it is the exclusive task of the Church, it is the absolute necessity of the world. Salvation is possible only through Christ, the content of the Gospel. Given these assumptions, three truths should be emphasized here:

In the first place, evangelization is an imperative task. There are five commandments expressed for the preaching, teaching and testimony of the Gospel given directly by Christ. This order is given in all the Gospels and also in the book of Acts. The great commission, given by the highest Authority of the universe, demands immediate obedience from the Church. The whole universe hears the voice of Christ and obeys it promptly. The Church can not challenge the sovereign Lord of the universe or disobey his mandate. Jesus commissioned his disciples to go throughout the world, preach the Gospel to every creature, make disciples of all nations, to the ends of the earth. Our role is not to question that order or change the message. It is our duty to obey and fulfill our mission promptly, immediately and faithfully.

Second, evangelization is a non-transferable task. The order to bring the good news of the Gospel to every creature in all nations was not given to the angels, but to the Church. No other institution has this task; no other human agency has that competence; only the Church received that desiderato and has that authority. The Church is God's method to reach the world, and there is no other. If we omit, we will be considered guilty. Everything achieved is an envoy. Every believer is a missionary. The whole Church is an evangelizing agency. The Church has only two options: to be a missionary body or a missionary field; evangelizes or needs to be evangelized. Unfortunately, the vast majority of those who were called by the gospel are silent and do not proclaim it.

Third, evangelization is an urgent task. The message of the Gospel can not be postponed. Today is the day of salvation. Leaving for tomorrow may be too late. There is no greater tragedy than the ungodly dying in his impiety. There is no ingratitude more profound than someone who found the bread of life to spread the good news to the hungry. There is no greater insensitivity than someone who was forgiven and saved by grace silencing his voice and allowing those who go to condemnation to perish. Evangelization is not only the most important message, but it is also the most urgent message.

Preaching the Gospel, therefore, is not an option, but a commandment. It is not a responsibility to be transferred to another, but to be fulfilled without stopping by us. It is not a job that can be left for later, but a work to be done today. Christ died and bought with his blood those who come from all the ethnic groups of the earth, and our role is to go to them, while it is time, announcing them salvation by grace. Oh, may God raise up the Church and awaken its members, in order to go everywhere, telling our city, our State, our nation and all the nations of the earth the best news, the news that Christ died for the dead our sins and resurrected for our justification. May we be attentive to the unbearable truth that evangelization is the mission of the Church and the need of the world.
