Join the wise and you will be one of them.

"Spend time with the wise and you will become wise, but the friends of the fools will suffer" (Proverbs 13:20).

Have you heard the old phrase: "If you want to fly with the eagles, you can not run with the turkeys"? If you want to be wise, you have to live with some wise people in your life.

You do not need many friends in life, nor do you need to be popular. You only need some good friends to build it, do not knock it down. People who are wise, not stupid. If you are left with fools, that is what you become. There is a proverb that expresses this context well: "Join the good guys and be one of them." Join the bad guys and it will be worse than them.

We grew in community, then the spiritual maturity is the result of a growth of experiences lived in your community. You could become a hermitage and go to the top of a mountain and spend your life sitting quietly and reading books. You would grow in knowledge, but you would not grow in wisdom.

Why? Because wisdom is related to love. Wisdom appears mainly in relationships. That's why some people have educational diplomas, but their weddings are falling apart. They are educated, but they are not wise.

The Bible says in Proverbs 13:20, "Spend time with the wise and you will become wise, but the friends of fools suffer" (NCV).

Imagine that I am on a stage reaching out to throw, but in doing so there is a reactive force pulling down. In that context, what is easier to do? It is always easier for someone to shoot than to throw you. The people who tip you are not your friends. Friends pull you up. Friends encourage you in your search for divine wisdom, offering your help.

Is someone in your life giving good advice regularly? You need that kind of encouragement if you want to be a wise person.

I ask:

  1. the people who are closest to you?

  2. How are these people who are encouraging in their spiritual growth and the pursuit of wisdom? Or how are they distracting from learning to live with wisdom?

  3. Is it more important for you to have many friends or deep relationships? Why?

Good Messege Sister @kristal01.

The Bible says in Proverbs 13:20, "Spend time with the wise and you will become wise, but the friends of fools suffer"

Iron sharpeneth iron, the bible says.

If you want to be wise than you definitely need to be around those who have wisdom. Your frequenting with them will make start to think like them. But if keep going around with those that act irrational like fools, you are likely to end up like them. The company you keep matters a lot.

Wonderful message my Sister K!
