DAY 1: BLESSED THE POOR IN SPIRIT

in #steemchurch6 years ago

Hello to all my steemchurch brothers, I am very excited about this beautiful initiative of @sc-v led by the Apostle @darlenys01

The theme to be discussed is: The Beatitudes and for this week corresponds the number 1

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5: 3

What does it mean to be poor in spirit?

Being poor in spirit means being humble and recognizing your total dependence on God. The one who is poor in spirit knows that he needs more of God. The Bible says that the Kingdom of heaven belongs to the poor in spirit.

In one of his most famous preachings, Jesus said that the poor in spirit are blessed. "Blessed" means happy, or blessed. The blessing of the poor in spirit to receive is the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5: 3).

Jesus turned our values upside down. Many people want to be rich and self-sufficient, without depending on anyone. But Jesus said that the true blessed is the poor in spirit. Only those who find security in God will receive the Kingdom of heaven.

To be poor in spirit is to understand that you are poor alone (Psalm 40:17). His whole life depends on God. Without Him, there is no life. Your sustenance and your security do not depend on your effort. You need God.

Though afflicted by me and needy, Jehovah will think of me.My help and my deliverer is you, my God, do not delay.
Psalm 40:17

Being poor in spirit does not mean rejecting all wealth or living in misery. Being poor of goods does not guarantee poverty of spirit. Being poor in spirit does not mean either to hate or despise everything you are. To be poor in spirit is to understand that everything that you and that you reach comes from God and depends entirely on him. Glory belongs to God, not to you.

When you understand that you are lacking and needy and need Jesus to save you from your spiritual poverty, you become poor in spirit. You stop trusting yourself and put your absolute trust in God. Thus, you discover that everything you reach comes from God, who has trained and helped you in everything.

Recognize God in all his ways and give glory to Him (Psalm 115: 1). In the hour of difficulty, seek first the help and guidance of God and in the hour of joy thank Him. Thus, you will become poor in spirit.

Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory, for your mercy, for your truth.
Psalm 115: 1

I invite all my friends and brothers to participate in the teachings of the Beatitudes.
