CARING AND LOVE FOR CHILDREN HONORS GOD

Hello dear friends and brothers, I greet you under the blessing of the Lord, today we are going to focus on four relevant aspects of care and love for our children as a sign of honor towards God. "Jehovah's inheritance is the children." The first aspect referred to the care and love for children as it honors God. In second: The loving heart of God flows towards children. Third: Parents have the responsibility to raise their children. Fourth: The corrective discipline for rebellious children.

The care and love for children honors God

In the (Psalm 127: 3-5) the Lord tells us: "Behold, the children of the Lord are an inheritance: the fruit of the womb is precious. 4 As an arrow in the hand of the mighty one, so are the sons of the youth 5 Blessed is the man who filled his quiver with them, he will not be ashamed when he speaks with the enemies at the door. "

God's covenant with Adam and Eve contained two independent provisions: descendants and dominion. Two people alone could not dominate the earth. This required descendants.

For believers having children is a response to a commandment: "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth, and subdue it ... "(Gen 1:28). In the Psalms that we read initially the children are called "Jehovah's inheritance". This means that children belong to God; they are "ours" only in a secondary plane.

God gives offspring to couples as a person entrusts a fortune to their heirs. Jesus wants us not to despise any of those "little ones" and speaks of his faith in God as an example for adults (Mt 18: 1-5,10).

When a couple marries, they commit to love, serve and sacrifice for the next generation. Caring and loving children is one of the main ways to honor God and share the task of building his kingdom.

The loving heart of God in parents flows to children

In the book of the prophet (Hosea 11: 1,3,4) the Lord tells us: "1 When Israel was a boy, I loved him, and from Egypt I called my son", "3 I taught him to walk Efraín himself, taking him by the arms; and he did not know that I was taking care of him. 4 With human cords I drew them, with cords of love; and I was to them as those who lift the yoke on their necks, and I set food before them. "

God reveals himself as a loving father, close to his children and sensitive to their needs, therefore he teaches, encourages, helps and heals them. Growth is not something that God abandons to chance; the Lord consciously nurtures his children. The feeling of God towards his children is represented in the meaning behind the name of Hosea: "Liberator" or "he who helps". The Hebrew root yasha indicates that liberation or help is offered openly and gracefully, and in turn provides a refuge for every child of God. This is the biblical model for parents; God entrusts the children to their parents and allows their teachings to flow to the children through them.

Parents have the responsibility to raise their children

In (Ephesians 6: 4) the Lord says: "And you, fathers, provoke not your children to wrath, but bring them up in the discipline and admonition of the Lord."

God has given parents the responsibility of raising children; this is not the responsibility of the grandparents, of the schools, of the state, of youth groups, or of the companions and friends. Even if each of these groups could exert influence over the children, ultimately, the duty and responsibility rests on the parents and, particularly, on the father, whom God has designated as the "head" of the family, in order to direct it Two things are needed for the proper teaching of the children: a correct attitude and a correct foundation. An atmosphere permeated with destructive criticism, condemnations, false expectations, sarcasm, intimacy and fear, "will provoke the child to anger". In a similar atmosphere, no healthy teaching can be offered.

The positive alternative would be an atmosphere rich in tenderness, enthusiasm, affection and love. In such an atmosphere, parents can build the lives of their children on the precious foundation of God's knowledge (Deut 6: 6-7, Prov 22: 6).

The corrective discipline for rebellious children

In (Proverbs 13:24) we have: "He who hates punishment, hates his son; But he who loves him disciplines him promptly".

Discipline is the other side of teaching. Even children with a learning spirit need detailed explanations, a lot of patience, opportunities to train and experiment, as well as the right to learn through their mistakes. But a child spoiled (Pr 29:15), rebellious (1Samuel 15:23) or stubborn (Pr 22:15), disregards what he has been taught and breaks family harmony. The divine response to this is firm and loving discipline.

The Bible makes a clear distinction between discipline and physical abuse. Discipline can be painful, but not harmful. We should never harm a child (Pr 23:13), although sometimes pain can be part of an effective correction. God himself describes himself as a strict supporter of discipline. Although he always disciplines us out of love and for our benefit, his correction can cause us pain (Heb 12: 5-11). In the same way, God demands that parents discipline their children correctly. Even the child's eternal destiny may depend on the discipline provided by his parents (Pr 23:14).
