The Christian life does not mean to despair being self-dependent to comply with the commandments of God, but to trust in the Eternal, because from Him and so from Him come peace and sleep.

To the extent of their free availability, thoughts and affections, the mentality and behavior of man are slowly purified and transformed, in a process that is not fully fulfilled in this life. "
Heroic ancestors
Chapter 11 of Hebrews begins with a definition of all that is faith; Then he gives a description of the many heroes and heroines of the history of Israel: Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Jacob, Joseph, Moses and Rahab, and then add the names of Gideon, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel and the prophets. All these men and women did great things for God and his people because of the faith they had.
In his letter Porta Fidei, the Holy Father continues this tradition, making us look up at the many other people in the New Testament who also did great things for God. For this, it begins with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus, who believed what the angel said and accepted the invitation of God to conceive and give birth to the Messiah. Then, he continues with the apostles who, by faith "left everything to follow the Master" and then broadens his horizon to comment on how the early Church was formed by the faith of its members.
The disposition of a hero. We all recognize the way in which the Old Testament heroes lived their faith and we are glad for that, and we certainly deeply admire the courageous decision of the Virgin Mary to declare herself the slave of the Lord. The testimonies of the apostles and the saints reach us to the heart, with good reason! because all these are very inspiring stories.
But there is something that goes beyond mere inspiration when we contemplate these heroic men and women: The Holy Spirit uses these stories to perform a work of faith within us and tells us that we too can be like them; that we can be heroes and heroines for God. And he tells us the same thing that the Lord told everyone when he walked the paths of Israel: "Do not be afraid, just have faith" (Mark 5:36).
One of the best ways to have this kind of faith is to develop an attitude of openness before God. Our attitudes are the main means by which we put our lives into practice and the Holy Spirit wants to take these attitudes and give them the correct form; He wants to take every attitude we have and elevate it to heaven so that it resembles Jesus'.
If we have a happy attitude, the Spirit wants to communicate the joy of the Lord; if we are stubborn, he wants us to use that energy to seek holiness; if we are afraid, he wants us to learn to fear God and reject sin and everything that turns us away from the Lord's way. In short, the Holy Spirit wants to pour out his grace on the deepest part of our personality, so that in everything we have the gaze fixed on Jesus Christ. This is how heroes are born.
Studies have shown that the attitude we adopt when faced with a serious illness, such as cancer, is of crucial importance. Those who have a positive and hopeful attitude tend to fight more successfully against the disease than those who are overwhelmed by cancer. In the same way, it is much more likely that a person with an attitude rooted in faith and openness to the Holy Spirit can bear the storms of life than one whose attitude is one of doubt or disbelief.
Instincts of faith.
Dear brothers, God wants to form our personality, so that we develop faith as a spiritual instinct that directs our steps towards him. If we teach our mind to remain focused on the Lord and seek His love and will, we will develop spiritual instincts, and when a difficulty or adversity or an opportunity arises, our attention will be focused on the Lord in an almost instinctive way, and We will know that we have to ask for his wisdom, his help and his strength.
Attitudes that please God

Hebrews 11: 32-34 says: And what else do I say? Because time would be lacking telling me about Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, as well as Samuel and the prophets; that by faith they conquered kingdoms, they did justice, they obtained promises, they covered the mouths of lions, they extinguished impetuous fires, they avoided the edge of the sword, they drew strength from weakness, they became strong in battles, they put in flight foreign armies.

There are people who have a place in history because their faith gave them victory and they achieved great feats. God chose them and prepared them through processes that strengthened their trust in Him. Today, there are also people who have been victorious in the battles of faith. Healing, marital restoration or economic prosperity are possible if we have confidence in the Almighty God.
The faithful of today can also look like these heroes and heroines; We can take our own moments of grace and reflect on them and treasure them. If we do, our attitude of faith will grow, and as a result our instincts of faith will become clearer and more effective.
Let's go through the door! , let us comply with the call and enter through the door of faith. Whatever the condition of our faith right now, let us do what is necessary to make it more firm day by day, month by month and year by year, and we propose ourselves as an objective, each in his own way, to become heroes and heroines of Faith.
