CHURCH AFFAIR || BUILDING THE BODY OF CHRIST
Where To Place Your Confidence~Philippians 3:1-8.
This is Sunday morning from my location on earth and according to man’s calendar that we use and I’m glad writing to you my beloved, one thing about steemit blog page is that what everyone posts here stands a chance to last for a taste of time, therefore, we should take head on what we post here because they also stand a chance to make or mar individual in generations to come.
It’s also very important to note that what we post here says a lot about us, who we are, the life that we live and what we believe, then to the generations to come, it’ll paint a picture of who we were, the life that we lived and what we believed.
In my own life, it prompts joy of the lord in my heart writing about such great and unprecedented confidence and lively hope that I have in Christ Jesus my lord and your lord if you believe. Jesus is the chief cornerstone that formed our confidence, apostle Paul also stressed it further in his quest for a healthy church. Paul and the other apostles painted a picture of their life not knowing the people that would look at such pictures, but today not just that we’re looking at their lives but we also have the same life with them and we bear witness to the light. I’ve seen and tasted the word of life which I have no right to, but the grace of God made it possible according to his desire which he purposed in Himself before the foundation of the world to have himself a body which we are today through Jesus Christ who fulfilled the requirements for our redemption. Amen.
We are the church of Jesus Christ, we are the body of Christ, it’s our duty to fight the good fight of faith which will help others in their walk with the lord, it’s also given to them that are called and are sent to speak as the oracles of God as the Spirit of God enables.
OUR CONFIDENCE AS CHRISTIANS
Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe.
Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision. For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ. Philippians 3:1-8.
It’s our job to align ourselves to the pattern that Jesus is building us as his glorious church, if we fail to diligently follow after, then we’re not of him, that’s what he explains in Matthew 7 concerning men that love calling him lord lord without giving heed to the pattern of his building, he clearly says that those ones surely will partake in religion in their lifetime on earth but will never have him in eternity because they worked iniquity.
Working iniquity has been disguised by the enemy of our faith Satan today that the church has giving up their confidence in Christ alone in exchange to the pollution that is the world through lust. Paul in his letter made it clear that as long as we’re in this world, we’re going to make use of the world but without abusing it; in other words, we must not misplace our confidence, we must put things where they belong to.
I found out today that many Christians has deviated from the true gospel, giving heed to seducing spirits in this dark age.
How do I mean? Jesus says that it takes a fruit from a man to know him, we must understand that darkness is so much in our world today but only they that posses the true light can see through the disguise, Jesus talked about they that what they considered as light in them are actually darkness. And we read thus;
Matthew 6:20-24
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
It is erroneous for the body of Christ to put their confidence in the flesh, what does that mean? Remember our text in Philippians 3 which embodies our topic of confidence. Many who assume to have believed in Christ are all over places trusting in physical things and in their physical achievements and accomplishments.
It breaks my heart seeing and hearing what people (Christians) talks about in their meetings which they call testimony, testimony time has become a time that the enemy has set for mockery! Yes we mock ourselves not God whenever we takes up microphone 🎤 to talk about our worldly accomplishment, it tells where we’ve placed our confidence, it’s no longer on the unseen but on the seen which Bible calls glorying in our shame.
It isn’t normal, that’s one of the signs of a deviated church, a church that is far away from the righteousness of God. It’s a repeat of backsliding that Jesus warned the church at Laodicea in Revelation 3 which we’re going to read as we conclude our discussion on confidence.
IN CONCLUSION
Revelation 3:14-19
And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Yes Jesus is willing to forgive and to heal us if we repent from our sinful act of disobedience in his words, we do these things without knowing the implications.
It’s absolutely wrong to rejoice about physical things of this world as a Christian who really understands his or her hope.
Jesus didn’t even allow his disciples to rejoice over miracles that followed them after given them power over demons and diseases, rather he redirected their rejoicing to their awareness that their names are written in heaven.
The only reason to rejoice is when a man is sure that his name is written in heaven.
And he continues in that confidence and consciousness knowing fully well that once saved is not forever saved, that which is written can be erased also if we fail to persevere till the end.
