Unwrapping the Word of the Lord for the Month of August, important questions come to mind such as, “the month of the greater light”, what does it all mean?

To answer this question, we also need to go back to our scripture reference. So, Gen 1:16 says “and God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.” He made two great lights. The first is the greater light; its purpose? To rule the day!

Two essential words to consider, they are “rule” and “day”. To rule means to exercise dominion, to assert authority. Interestingly the word translated “day” also means hot or heat! Circumstances can be “heated”, situations can be termed as being “heated”, and people could be going through “heated” seasons. That is when nothing seems to make sense anymore. The world is going through very turbulent times at the moment, lives and properties worth millions consumed by fire, “heat”. The weather has been described as excessively hot across many parts of the world. Day time temperatures hitting record high levels. Summer heat, also consuming lives across some parts of Asia and Europe.

Despite these adverse conditions, the Lord has said we are the 'greater' light. It means we are to exercise authority over all such things. We are to dominate them, we must bring them to the obedience of Christ! We must, because we can. Rather than fold our arms looking up and wondering where help would come from, we must do something; we must speak words of power as children of God, yet that we must do only if we have the true light in full measure which is the spirit of God in our hearts

When Christ and his disciples were in a turbulent boat, it took a man Jesus that was full of light to see through their situation and he spoke.

Likewise apostle Paul in his sail to Rome for his trial, he was full of light that when captains and his fellow prisoners were sore afraid over the great turbulence that refused to eat, Paul was full of faith, confidence because the Lord has spoken to him concerning the situation.

2 Peter 1:19

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
