Encounter with Christ Seeing Him that is Invisible part 11

Act 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

Act 3:20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:

I have been preaching the Gospel for 36 years. Not full time! Working a secular job, but also preaching in prisons, on the street and in churches all over the USA and in other countries. I have been in many many churches. I am not called to pastor, but I am called to Evangelism. My favorite people to minister to are the prostitute, drug addict, gang members and in the prisons, because these people know they are sinners and don’t need to be convinced. It is the religious that are the hardest to reach. It was the same when Jesus walked this earth. He had the most cutting things to say to the religious, but He was patient and full of grace and mercy to the publican, prostitute, woman caught in adultery.

Many churches I have preached in America and here in the Philippines will never invite me back.

It has been this way all of my life. I would preach a message and the pastor would never ask me back. When I spoke to the Lord about it, He said there were many churches that would not invite Him back either.

The reason is, I preach holiness. I preach repentance. I preach a cost for following Jesus. I preach picking up your cross daily, denying ourselves. I preach being a stranger here. Not joining in with the world, not loving this life and not loving anything or anyone more than Jesus.

The good news is not just forgiveness of sin, but power over sin!

Repentance

You see this is a bad word in many church denominational circles. Or the definition is watered down, so that the intended meaning is gone.

We cannot remain in our sin and expect something great to come out of our Christian walk.

I say all of this to get back to our text.

This is Peter's response to the question, “What must we do to be saved?”

What is notable is Jesus had already ascended and was not any longer walking in the flesh on the earth.

But the promise is, as repentance was the condition of the promise, the promise is times of refreshing would come from the Lord and,

Act 3:20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:

He is sending Jesus based on our repentance!

Well back to my story. One church in the USA invited back for 60 days in a row. I am not saying anything great about myself, but my point is the value of the message of repentance. Needful for an encounter with the Divine! I preached straight for 30 days on repentance, holiness, honoring God with our bodies and having no other love but for Him. Th first command! This pastor never stopped me and we went on every night for 60 days. Young boys were coming forward and confessing and repenting of pornography and masterbation. Every night the altars were soaked with tears. The majority of the people were regular church goers.

On the 30th day a visible cloud of God’s Glory was seen by all in the sanctuary!

The deaf could hear, the lame began to walk. God healed all manner of sicknesses and disease.

Repentance. Changing the way you think. Godly sorrow for the sin in our lives. And a change of direction or walking away from our sin. Repentance is a type of death to self. Repentance comes from an encounter with the holiness of God.

The Words of Jesus,

“If you love Me, you will keep my commands”

Have a blessed Sunday
