Isa 49:6 And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.

From the time of Abraham God was seemingly focusing on one people. Then when we get to Jacob who was renamed ‘Israel, the focus became clear that Israel was God’s focus. His peculiar people rescued out of Egypt by Moses and then brought into the promise land. Here God assigned them lands and honored even the promise He made to Abraham. But even the promise to Abraham was to bless all nations through His “Seed”. Singular seed!

Gen 26:3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;
Gen 26:4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;
Gen 26:5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

So many prophecies have a dual and current application, plus a future fulfillment. The future fulfillment is the real focus and of the greater importance. Isaac being the seed of Abraham. But as I have reiterated many times, the Old Testament is only truly understood through the New Testament and all of the Bible is only truly understood through Jesus Christ.

New Testament Verses

Gal 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

If you are in Christ then you are Abraham’s seed

Gal 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

God’s intent and purpose to have a Messiah and a plan for forgiveness of sin for the entire world. In Christ we see it is not only “Jacob’s Son” or Israel that God loves, but the entire Gentile World too. In Christ Jesus is the first we read...

God Loves the World

Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

God does something amazing through this ONE SEED JESUS CHRIST. He makes two into one. The Gentiles are the wild olive branch grafted into the cultivated olive tree. We are grafted in the through Jesus. As we can see from our text, this has been the plan from the very beginning.

No matter who you are. No matter what your nationality or current religious beliefs or customs, If you are a Jew, Jesus is your Messiah. If you are a Gentile, Jesus is the Christ and Savior of the World. His sacrifice was offered to allow you eternal life in Him and with Him.

Rom 10:12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
