Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

First note is that the armor covers the front of the warrior (you) and there is no protection from behind. We are to face our enemy and the best defense is a good offense. There is a hidden enemy. He will attack your beliefs, instill fear and try to wreck you marriage and distract and entice your children. Many look at “Spiritual Warfare” as a battle on a foreign front, but this battle is personal and for the spiritual health of ourself and our family.

Primarily this battle is for our own spiritual health.

If we look at this armour it is worn by a soldier and this soldier is you or me. The protection is personal for our mind (helmet of salvation) Vital organs or our heart (Breastplate of Righteousness). Even the shield of faith and the sword of the Spirit are held in our hands. This is us fighting for ourselves and those we we love. We can assist others, but we must be “Strong in the Lord and the Power of His Might” ourselves.

I am a man so I will make this description from a man’s point of view.

If there were an intruder in my home that came to harm my family, it is my responsibility to stop that intruder at any cost! (I am speaking here in the physical). A robber or someone who has the intent to harm my family enters my home. My duty is to protect my wife and kids!

The thing is there is a hidden enemy described here in. Eph 6. This enemy is more devious and more dangerous than a physical foe and most of us are doing nothing. We either don’t believe in such stuff, even though the Bible clearly teaches about it, or we have not been taught.

Hos 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:

To put on the belt of truth and to have the Sword of the Spirit (the Word of God), we must be people that know God’s Word! A bible knowledge that comes from personal bible study, led by the Holy Spirit.

This enemy is hidden and he is the father of lies. The number one way he will attack will be in our minds and our belief system. Every writer of the New Testament and Jesus, warned of false prophets, false teachers, false teachings. It seems everyone thinks it could be someone else, but the hard truth is that this could include you! If you don’t know what the Bible says for yourself. If you have not prayerfully studied the Bible, the teachings of Jesus especially, you are an easy candidate for deception.

This Warfare is so important it could mean the difference in the spiritual health of your family and your eternal destination. If this enemy can get you to believe a lie, like it is the truth, you are vulnerable.

Time to put on the Belt of Truth and prayerfully study the Bible for yourself.

Whenever Jesus was tempted by the devil in the wilderness, Jesus responded by “It is written”. Jesus quoted the Bible to fight of the attack of the enemy. We have to know God’s Word.

The first armour on the list is the Belt of Truth.
The last is the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
