STEEMCHURCH: A Path of Perfection

in #steemchurch6 years ago (edited)

Today the family and the Church should strive to bring their members down that path of perfection, since the teaching of Jesus is "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."

A PATH OF PERFECTION.

Psalm 101: 1-8 RVR1960
1 Mercy and judgment I will sing; I will sing to you, O Jehovah. 2 I will understand the path of perfection When you come to me. In the integrity of my heart I will walk in the middle of my house. 3 I will not put unrighteous things before my eyes. I abhor the work of those who deviate; None of them will come to me. 4 A wicked heart will turn away from me; I will not know the evil one. 5 To him who secretly slanders his neighbor, I will destroy him; I will not suffer the haughty-eyed and vain-hearted. 6 I will set my eyes on the faithful of the earth, that they may be with me; Whoever walks in the way of perfection, this will serve me. 7 The one who commits fraud will not live in my house; He who speaks lies will not assert himself before my eyes. 8From tomorrow I will destroy all the wicked of the earth, To exterminate from the city of the LORD all who do iniquity

Christianity is a form of faith, faith in Jesus Christ as Son of God, Savior and Lord. But also Christianity is a practice; Christianity without praxis is not Christian faith but only religiosity, since "... faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself." Sant.2: 17 Like all human beings we are sinners, inclined to evil and Disobedience to the Divine principles, Christianity is thirdly a "path of perfection".

In the psalm that we now present, the writer refers to that path of perfection. The psalmist and King David is determined to live righteously and to make everyone in his kingdom do it, where there is no place for frauds and liars.

Today, the family and the Church should strive to lead their members along this path of perfection, given that Jesus' teaching is "Be perfect, therefore, as your Father who is in heaven is perfect." Mat.5 : 48 Discipleship is the method proposed by the Master for the formation of Christians on that path of perfection, the praxis of the teachings of the Gospel and the development of faith in God.

How is the path of perfection characterized?

  1. It is a path of mercy and judgment. Psalm 101: 1
Mercy and judgment are two opposite concepts. Mercy is compassion for the pain of others. The Lord invites us in the Gospel, both through His works and His words, to be merciful. This is stated in Mat.5: 7; Lk.6: 36

On the other hand, the judgment is the act of discerning between the good and the bad acting of others, reprimanding later and ruling a judgment. The warning of Jesus is not to judge and always prefer to forgive offenses or wrongdoings, since we are human and we lack all the perspectives, that only God has, to do it with equity.

If we come to judge, do not do it according to the apparent or superficial but deepening in the possible reasons for that bad performance. This will lead us to a fair judgment, that is, merciful: Mat.7: 1; Lk.6: 37; Jn.7: 24

Under the Law the judgment is cold and adheres only to the letter; instead under Grace, the judgment is made with mercy. Thus Jesus judged the woman caught in the act of adultery Jn.8: 1-11

The king and psalmist David is committed to Divine mercy and judgment. He wants to sing to the Lord of mercy and of just or merciful judgment.

The Christian way is a path of mercy and justice, which begins with the mercy of God in the judgment of the cross and then extends to the whole life of the disciple of Jesus.

  1. It is a path of integrity. Sal.101: 2
The path of God will always be a path of perfection. Serving God or following Jesus Christ is not static but dynamic. He calls us to save us, heal us, renew us and transform us.

These are four dimensions of God's work in the life of the converted: a) Salvation Lk.19: 9,10 b) Healing Jer.17: 14 c) Renewal Ro.12: 1,2 d) Transformation 2Co.3: 18

If the Lord has approached a person, it is not only to console them, save them, listen to their prayers and satisfy their requests; it is also to develop it in a virtuous life, to communicate the Love of God in all its acts.

God wants us to be "whole", complete, unreached by evil, with moral integrity; that in His house that is the Church, the Family of God, let us walk with righteousness. The path of the Christian must be a permanent search for moral and spiritual integrity.

  1. It is a path of fidelity. Ps.101: 3-8
King David expresses in his psalm his feeling as the authority of the Hebrew nation, but this is a reflection of God's feeling:
    a) He does not like injustice; (v.3,4)
    b) He does not like the one who offends and deceives his neighbor; (v.5)
    c) He does not like arrogance and vanity; (v.5)
    d) Like fidelity, loyalty to the superior; (v.6)
    e) Like those who strive to excel in good behavior, who seek to please God and live in holiness; (v.6)
    f) He does not like economic fraud or lies and those who practice them will take them away from him; (v.7)

Justice, truth, humility, fidelity, self-improvement and honesty are virtues that the family and the Church must practice and teach their members with good example.

This is the path of fidelity that the Lord invites us to follow. The path of the Christian begins in the sincere faith in God the Father and Jesus, the Savior, a faith that expresses itself in obedience, submission to the Lord and subjection to the Church, resulting in true fidelity to God and His Word.
