You will find the child wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly hosts, praising God, and saying: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men!
Luke 2: 12-14
Why did the angels manifest on earth because of this event, apparently as common as the birth of a child? Was he the firstborn of a great king, born in the luxury of a palace? Do not! The child that Maria, a young woman of humble condition, had given birth was considered the son of a modest carpenter. He was lying in a manger, a kind of box where the beasts eat.
So, why did the angels appear? Why did they render such wonderful praise?
-Because it was the most extraordinary event since the creation of the world: God approached man, his creature, in the person of his Son, who took a body similar to ours.
-The glory of God is not only seen clearly in the creation of the universe, but also in the plans of grace towards human beings. The message of peace is addressed to all: reconcile with God! God wants to dwell with men and share their thoughts with them.
Later it would be necessary for that child, already an adult, to present himself as a victim without defect to carry our sins and give his life on the cross. But none of this would have been possible without the coming of the Lord Jesus to the earth. Supreme act of love of Jesus, God manifested in flesh, who was born in poverty in Bethlehem.
Christ "emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, made like unto men" (Philippians 2: 7).
