The Russian writer Solzhenitsyn, who knew the horrors of forced labor camps, wrote about his executioners: "How did this horde of wolves appear? Do not they have the same roots as us? Do not they have the same blood? " And he gives the answer: "Yes, we are of the same blood. And everyone should ask themselves: if my life had been otherwise, would not I also have been one of these executioners? It is a terrible question, if you want to answer honestly.

This man knew the perversity of the human heart. He saw it up close, when nothing held him back, free to carry out all his follies. And all that wickedness frightened him.

We could expect that the writer's judgment would only reach "the horde of wolves". However, he also found that in the hearts of the tortured, as well as in their own, there was the same nature, the same source of evil as in that of the executioners.

Recognizing that the human heart is totally bad is an important point. But we must not stay there: there is a remedy. Where does it come from? Of the application of a philosophical principle or a moral rule? Absolutely! That remedy comes from heaven, from God. Yes, God came to save man fallen into sin. How? Giving his Son a ransom.

It is only necessary to open the heart to God, go through a new spiritual birth and thus receive a new heart.
