STEEMCHURCH - The prayer of King Manasseh

in #steemchurch5 years ago

A warm greeting Dear friends and brothers
Welcome to my blog
God bless you!

(Manasseh multiplied) to do evil before the eyes of the Lord.
2 Kings 21:6

After he was put in distress, he prayed to the Lord his God, humbled... Then Manasseh recognized that the Lord was God.
2 Chronicles 33:12-13

This king ruled Jerusalem for fifty-five years. But he acted very badly before God. He rebuilt the pagan altars that his father had destroyed, and dared to install his idols in the temple of God. On several occasions God admonished him, but this king would not listen and dragged the people of Israel into open disobedience to God. Rarely does the Bible give such a negative description of a sovereign. After many exhortations, God sent him enemies who took him prisoner. What else can one expect, after so much opposition to God, but judgment?

But suddenly the tone of the story changes. "After he was put in distress, he prayed to the Lord his God, humbled greatly in the presence of the God of his fathers. And when he had prayed to him, he was answered; for God heard his prayer" (2 Chronicles 33:12-13). God, who is merciful, took into account this man's prayer and repentance. And he was moved... What patience!

The example of Manasseh encourages us to turn to God at all times. It does not matter what our past is; while we are on this earth, there is hope for us if we repent. God remains the same (Nehemiah 9:6). If he answered Manasseh's prayer, he will not reject ours. Let us return to God, whose patience moves us. If we repent and turn to Him, the Lord will receive us as the father of the lost son in the parable (Luke 15:20).
