GOD Won't Give You What You Deserve.
I can see you rolling your eyes right now, but that is a bitter truth; God won’t give you what you deserve or what you think you deserve. The truth is, we all know what we deserve. At least I know what I know I deserved.
While growing up or as we go through life, we have done every little bit of things we think didn’t matter. I have lied many times, who hasn’t? I have gotten angry. I have turned a blind eye. I have given up hope in my country at some point. The truth is, we have all done what we shouldn’t have but yet we are still standing. It is by God’s help that we have not been consumed. We have all fallen below God’s standards so we know what we deserved. We only exist by His mercy.
Mercy is God’s unmerited favour. It means we don’t have to deserve it before we receive it. I have shared the story of a woman who ran to the king seeking for mercy. Her son stole from the king and the king asked his officials to jail him. They did but the mother came to him to beg. She would weary the king out with constant visits and one day, she caught the king taking a stroll in the evening and she ran to him. She pleaded for mercy with the king and the king remembered what the son did again.
The king said the boy deserved to be jailed for what he did, but the mother said, ”My lord, I am not asking for what he deserved, I am only asking for what he doesn’t deserve; mercy”. That statement humbled the king and asked the boy to be received.
The reality is, if you deserve it then it wouldn’t be called mercy. You know what you deserved because we are not perfect. God doesn’t always give us what we deserved, He gives us what He has reserved for us, by His mercy.
