What is Responsibility?

These are burden of obligations.
Responsibility is being answerable or accountable for something within your power, control or management.
They are duties that one is saddled with.

Your responsibility may include individuals that you may not even be aware of

What does Accepting Responsibility means?

Accepting Responsibility is taking ownership of your own behaviours, decisions and their consequences.

Part of growing is taking responsibility for oneself. We started as infants with no responsibility at all, everything we need was done for us. As we progress through the various stages of childhood, we take on more and more responsibility. We learn to tie our own shoes, clean our own rooms, and turn in our own homework.

In many ways, the difference between a child and a man is his willingness to accept responsibility for his actions. As Paul says, “When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me” (1 Corinthians 13:11).

Until we accept responsibilities for our actions and their consequences, it'll be very difficult to build self-respect; growth will be very difficult.

It’s a simple truth that all human beings make mistakes and poor choices. The same goes for when we fail to act when we know we should. But how do you receive the consequences? Do you accept your it or not.

For you to realise your responsible there are things that must be in place

Steps to taking responsibility

  1. Knowing who you are (Your purpose)
Clear purpose and values will be a guide to decision-making and empower you to prioritise and focus on what is important. When you know what you want, then you will be able to take responsibility for you actions.
We act not minding the aftermath of our actions because we do not even know what our responsibilities are, we don't even know who we are.

  2. Not blaming Others/ Blame Shifting
Blaming others is the easiest way out and it is trap that we all fall into.
Biblical examples include Adam tried to blame Eve for his sin (Genesis 3:12). Cain tried to dodge responsibility (Genesis 4:9).
But when you blame others, what you are really saying is that you are not capable of rectifying the situation, but when you take responsibility your primary focus is to identify what went wrong and how to rectify it. This way you build Self-respect.

  3. Not blaming yourself
Just because you are not blaming others doesn't mean you should blame yourself.
Whether you blame yourself or others, blame weakens those involved and it blocks rational thought. You don't need to punish someone, rather you need to solve a problem. Take responsibility for the situation identify the changes and make them.

  4. Being honest with yourself
    a)Give up excuses-
I am too young/old, I don't have money, am too busy, I can't afford it, it only cause stagnancy

b) Do not procrastinate, Do whatever you need to do now

c) Do not be lazy, read books if you need to, register for exams if need be,fast and pray always, enroll for gym you need to. Look at situations around you and effect change.
Many of us are lazy, waiting for miracles, God is not a magician. You need to play your roles.

5 Do not be a Mediocre/ Do not give up
Aim for the top, dream high ,there is more to whatever you think you have achieved. Do not be stagnant.

Many die of depression today just because they gave up on life, you can't afford to give up ....keep pressing and trusting God.

Hebrews 11:6

When you give up you neglect your responsibility because life becomes meaningless to you.

Don't give room for depression ,speak out don't allow the devil steal your joy, encourage yourself in the lord.

When you tune your mentality or mind set to this things, den you will know what your responsibility are and how they affect you and people around you

Our responsibilities as Ambassador of Christ is beyond praying and fasting, it is beyond Decent dressing and speaking in tongues.

What are your attitude or actions outside the gathering of the brethren, even in the midst of the brethren.

Every of our words or action is passing a message to someone, what kind of message are you passing out.

Every of our action should depict God and Godliness.

Faith is essential but we cannot evade our personal responsibility to exercise faith.
Even the bible says that faith without work is dead. (James 2:17)

Many people especially we believers forsake what we need to do all in the name of spirituality.

God will not play your roles and his together. Get up, fasten your belt and wake up to your responsibilities .
I pray that God will help us all.

Our father we want to say thank you for speaking to us tonight ,we glorify you sufficiency your name be glorify forever.

Lord, we pray that you open the eye of our understanding, that you reveal our purpose to us and teach us what to do at the right time
