Preparing The Ground

So Jotham became mighty because he prepared his ways before the Lord his God.

2 Chronicles 27 vs 6.

Every opportunity or chance comes with time. Whenever opportunity meets preparation, a miracle of greatness results. Things are skewed in favour of a prepared mind. Abraham Lincoln once said;

Prepare and wait and the opportunity (Time) will come.

Preparation is the Key to success. Success is not accidental; it comes as a result of efforts invested into it as nothing happens by itself. Everything that will move will require a push, nothing changes without a concious effort of someone whether physically, spiritually or otherwise.

From the above scripture, it can be noted that Jotham was a successful king of Judah, he is also very great. Success in all spheres of life is what greatness is all about. Jotham got there first by preparing his ways before the Lord his God. To prepare means to be ready and putting everything on ground for achieving success. From the story of Jotham, we can discover three phases of preparation.

Physical Preparation.

He prepared himself physically for the success and greatness both in wars and in the structural development he brought to Judah. He developed a strong mental strenght considering the level of opposition he might have faced, he succeeded because of a strong will and desire to succeed. Physical preparation also involves having self confidence in one's ability and drive towards success.

Jotham rebuilt the Upper Gate of the temple of the LORD and did extensive work on the wall at the hill of Ophel.

For the man whose set time has come, there is an invitation to responsibility, before the blessings and the promises of God can fully manifest at the set time, the man must take responsibility. The reason why so many prayers are not answered is because no man has risen to take responsibilities. Even when God makes promises to you, it is your responsibility to vocalize and incubate the promises until it comes to pass. Where nobody take responsibility for the promises, the destiny of men suffers.
