Time Management | Doing Away With African Timing & Learning To Set Priorities

For some few days now, I have been constantly talking about the importance of time and today we will discuss "Time Management | Doing Away With African Timing & Learning To Set Priorities".

Doing Away With African Timing

This is an irresponsibility and time wasting attitude. It is indiscipline with timing. For example, an appointment or event is scheduled for 10AM and someone comes by 11:30AM. This is gross irresponsibility because no one will like to deal with a time wasting person.

Firstly, such a person will not be taken seriously for anything. Secondly, it shows slackness and lack of will in the life of the person. Thirdly, it breeds lack of trust and confidence in such a person. The person loses the respect and confidence estwhile reposed in him. Through this attitude, many have squandered great opportunities, resources and betrayed people's trust in them.

This kind of attitude is widely seen in this part of the world (Africa), little wonder it was referred to as African Time Syndrome. Time should be treated as a precious commodity needed to purchase whatever we desire in life. As our time is precious so is that of other people and this should be respected by avoiding African Time and unnecessary time wasting in meetings. Be responsible with time and people will respect you.

Lack Of Priorities

Time management starts with setting of priority. This is to know what to do , when to do it and what not to do. It is an act of setting of one's activities in order of importance, putting the most important things first before the less important ones and not vice versa.

Many people fail because they don't know what they really want, they waste a lot of time on trivialities and get carried away by less important things and lose focus on their purpose because they refused to set their priorities.

Set thine house in order for thou shalt die and not live.

Isaiah 38:1.

God warned Hezekiah to put his house in order. In other words to set his priorities right. Setting priority helps to avoid time wasting and loss of focus on the important things, it also helps in giving speed to accomplishment of purpose.

That's what we can take on the topic "Time Management | Doing Away With African Timing & Learning To Set Priorities".

In Latin America, we are irresponsible with time, and my opinion in relation to the subject is very critical.

When others have delayed the beginning of the meeting because of our unpunctuality we have stolen time. Others have arrived at the proper time to worship the Lord and we have taken time out of the worship by making them wait.

And as you want men to do to you, so do you also to them.
Luke 6:31
