Beware of the Ones that Chatter About Spiritual Powers

성경은 기적으로 시작해서 기적으로 끝나는 책입니다.
The Bible is a book that starts and ends with miracles.

전지전능한 하나님은 기적으로 자신의 존재감을 드러내시는 분이시기 때문이죠.
It is because God Almighty is the one that reveals himself through miracles.

그래서 하나님과 함께 하는 성경의 위인들은 놀라운 성령의 능력을 드러내며, 사람들로 하여금 하나님 앞에 무릎 꿇게 만들었습니다.
So people of God, the ones you read about in the Bible, show amazing spiritual power and have people bow down to God.

그러나 우리네 교회에는 성령의 능력이 사라진지 오래되었습니다.
But that power disappeared a long time ago from churches.

성령의 임재나 성령의 능력, 귀신 쫓음, 병 고침, 이적과 기적이란 단어를 백안시하고, 심지어는 이를 금기시하는 교회가 늘어나고 있어요.
Mentioning presence of the Holy Spirit, spiritual powers, exorcism, healing, and miracles are pretty much banned from church.

그리고는 그 자리에 성경지식을 대신하고 있죠.
And the biblical knowledge fills the spot, instead.

이 시대는 성경이 완성된 시대이므로, 성령의 능력 따위는 더 이상 필요 없다는 투의 뉘앙스를 풍기면서 말이예요.
They claim that the modern day is the age of completion of the Bible, which means no one 'needs' the spiritual power given by the Holy Ghost.

귀신을 쫓아내고 병을 고치는 등의 성령의 능력을 기피하는 우리네 교회의 풍토에 일조한 사람들이 적지 않습니다.
There are a lot of people who have participated in the avoidance of spiritual powers by churches today.

한 때 놀라운 성령의 능력을 앞세우며, 귀신을 쫓아내거나 고질병을 고치는 등의 사역을 했던 목회자들과 기도원 원장이 그들입니다.
They would be the pastors and ministers of churches who once showed miraculous powers of the Holy Spirit.

우리나라에 귀신에 대한 센세이션을 일으켰던 이가 바로 S교회의 K원로목사이죠.
In Korea, there was Pastor K of Church S; he became a sensation with his spirit chasing power.

이 목사는 귀신을 쫓아내는 능력을 앞세워서 대형교회를 성장시켰습니다.
This pastor enlarged his church with the power he claimed to possess.

그의 귀신론은 수많은 크리스천들에게 귀신의 존재를 각인시켰습니다.
And his claims imprinted the existence of demons to Christians.

그러나 그는 치명적인 실수를 했습니다.
But he made a critical mistake.

귀신이 말하는 소리를 진실로 인정해버린 것이에요.
He accepted what demons claim as the truth.

그래서 귀신의 말을 믿고 모든 질병이 귀신의 소행이라든가, 예수를 믿지 않고 죽은 사람들이 귀신이 되었다고 주장하는 것이 그것입니다.
He listened to what demons told him, and he believed that ALL diseases are caused by demons and people who die without accepting Christ become demons as well.

그러나 더욱 심각한 문제는, 지금은 그가 더 이상 귀신을 쫓아내는 퍼포먼스를 하지 못한다는 데 있어요.
The bigger problem, though, was that he was not able to perform exorcism after a while.

귀신을 쫓아내는 축출기도를 하면, 소리를 지르면서 기이한 동작을 보이는 게 귀신이 전부 쫓겨나간 것이 아니예요.
The possessed people screaming, tossing, and turning are not the signs of demons completely driven out.

그러나 귀신의 존재조차 보지 못했던 사람들은, 이 광경을 보고 깜짝 놀라서 눈이 휘둥그레 해졌지요.
But people who have never seen such a thing would be surprised and scared.

평생 보도 듣지도 못하던 광경을 보고 귀신이 나갔다는 그들의 말을 믿지 않을 수 없었습니다.
It was very easy for those people to believe and accept the phenomena as the complete exorcism.

그 목사뿐 아니라, 지금도 유투브 채널을 검색해보면 귀신을 쫓아낸다고 큰소리를 치는 이들이 더러 있습니다.
And there are countless people on YouTube that claim the same thing as that pastor.

그들은 자신들에게 찾아온 사람들에게 축출기도를 하면 기이한 동작을 드러내는 장면을 동영상으로 찍어서 유투브에 싣고 광고를 하고 있죠.
They show these signs as the proof of demons leaving the bodies of the possessed.

그러나 귀신에 대해 지식과 정보가 없는 사람들은 그들의 말을 믿지 않을 수 없을 겁니다.
It would be just natural to accept their claims, if the people don't have any knowledge regarding demons.

그러나 그들이 귀신의 쫓아주었던 사람들이 지금 어떻게 살고 있는지 확인할 도리가 없어요.
But there is no way to find out how the possessed (or formerly possessed) people live nowadays.

그들은 귀신을 쫓아내는 장면만 찍어서 홍보의 도구로 사용하고 있지, 그들에게서 축사 기도를 받은 사람들이 현재 귀신으로부터 자유롭게 살고 있는지 확인할 길이 없죠.
It is because they only film the 'process' and upload; they never mention about the people after the ritual.

저를 찾아온 수많은 사람들이, 귀신을 쫓아준다는 목회자나 기도원 원장을 찾아갔지만 돈과 시간을 낭비했다고 합니다.
People who came to me for help have told me that they have wasted a lot of money and time going to those pastors and ministers.

그 때는 귀신들이 나가는 것 같았지만, 시간이 지나자 예전 상태로 돌아왔다고 해요.
They felt the demons leaving, but the demons came back shortly after.

그래서 귀신을 쫓는다는 사람들을 믿지 못하겠다고 했습니다.
So they don't believe those who claim to drive demons out, not completely anyway.

어디 그뿐일까요? 인터넷과 유투브에는 귀신을 축출한다는 기도문과 귀신의 정보에 대해 말하는 사람들이 적지 않습니다.
And that's not all. There are plenty of people who talk about prayers to drive demons out and information on demons online.

그러나 그들이 정작 귀신을 쫓아내는 사역을 하지 않아요.
But they don't use their power to carry out God's will of destroying demons.

지금은 고인이 되었지만 예전에 대적기도를 써서 베스트셀러가 되었던 모 목사는, 자신은 전혀 귀신을 쫓아내지 않았습니다.
Pastor C, the late best selling author, was also like that; he wrote about how to resist demons, but he never chased them out.

그러면서 그 이유로, 귀신을 쫓아내면 그들의 공격을 받아 더욱 중요한 사역에 집중할 수 없다는 기묘한 논리를 펼쳤습니다.
His reason was that he could not focus on more important ministries of his, if demons don't attack him.

그렇다면 예수님과 사도들이 귀신을 쫓아내어 사역을 제대로 하지 못했습니까?
Did Jesus and his disciples have hard time focusing on their ministry after chasing demons out? I don't think so.

그러므로 귀신을 쫓아낸다는 사람들도, 그들이 귀신을 쫓아내었던 사람들의 현재 상태를 알 수 있도록 연락처를 알려주고 객관적인 증언을 통해 귀신이 이제 없다는 것을 증명해야 합니다.
So so-called exorcists must let their followers/ audience know how the possessed are doing, in the most objective way possible, after they had demons driven out.

또한 귀신에 대해 이러쿵저러쿵 말하는 사람들은 자신들이 직접 귀신을 쫓아내는 사역을 통해, 자신의 말을 입증해보여야 할 겁니다.
Also, people who chatter about demons should prove what they claim is true, through their ministry of exorcising.

그러나 이런 사역을 하지 않으면서 사람들을 미혹시키고 현혹시키고 있으니까, 귀신을 쫓는 사역 자체가 우리네 교회나 목회자들로부터 공격을 받아서 배척당하고 있는 것입니다.
But people don't do that; they just talk about it without really bringing results; and that is why people who actually exorcise with the Holy Spirit's power are avoided in churches today.

그렇다면 고질병을 고치고 정신질환을 치유하는 은사를 드러내는 성령의 능력에 대해 생각해봅시다.
Now, let's take a moment to think about the Holy Spirit's power, the one that heals incurable illnesses and mental disorders.

질병을 치유하는 성령의 능력을 생각하면, 지금 세계 최대의 교회를 일군 J원로목사가 떠오릅니다.
I think about Senior Pastor J, the founder of the largest church in the world, when it comes to healing power.

그러나 현재의 그는 자신이 세웠던 교회의 장로들부터 헌금을 유용했다는 수치스러운 고발을 당하고 실형을 받아, 찬란했던 이름을 초라하게 구기고 있는 중이지요.
Unfortunately, he is in prison for embezzling offering money from the church people. Now his name is trampled on the ground.

처음에는 놀라운 성령의 능력으로 시작했는지, 처음부터 성령의 능력이 아니었는지 저는 모릅니다.
I do not know whether he really had the power of the Holy Spirit from the beginning.

분명한 것은, 지금의 그는 하나님으로부터 외면을 당해서 이전의 이름값으로 겨우 연명하고 있다는 것이죠.
One thing for sure is that he is shunned by God; only his name is well known amongst older churchgoers.

지금도 성령의 능력으로 병을 고친다는 이들이 적지 않고, 수많은 목회자들이 치유의 은사를 받으려고 여기저기로 몰려다니고 있어요.
And there are plenty of people who claim to heal sick people; and people who want to get help look for those who claim to do so.

치유의 능력은 교회에만 있습니까? 아닙니다.
Is healing power only available in churches? Nope.

거의 대부분의 이단들은 치유의 능력을 대대적으로 홍보하고 있죠.
Many cults use their healing power as the way to get closer to people and to advertise their sects.

또한 절에 가서 불공을 드리거나 기도를 하고, 심지어는 무당을 찾아가서 굿을 해서 병이 낫는 일도 흔한 일입니다.
And it is true that people go to Buddhist temple to pray or ask shamans for help; and it works.

그렇다면 질병을 치유하는 능력을 보인다고 죄다 성령의 능력이라고 볼 수 없을 겁니다.
That means you cannot say the Holy Spirit's power is the only thing that can heal illnesses.

처음부터 성령의 능력인 것처럼 속였거나, 아니면 성령으로 시작했지만 지금은 치유의 능력이 사라져서 초라해졌거나 간에, 성령의 능력이 떠난 사람들은 하나님과 아무런 상관이 없는 사람임에 틀림없습니다.
Whether he had true spiritual powers or he faked everything, the ones without the power of the Holy Spirit probably have nothing to do with God.

그러나 과거에 그랬듯이, 앞으로도 성령의 능력으로 귀신을 쫓아내거나 질병을 치유한다는 사람들이 마구 나타나서 사람들을 미혹시킬 것이 분명합니다.
But of course, there will be plenty of people who claim their spiritual power will appear; they will deceive and tempt others.

그래서 성령의 능력인지 귀신의 미혹인지 아닌지를 분별하는 팁을 말씀드리겠습니다.
So I would like to share with you, how to tell these people apart.

나무도 좋고 열매도 좋다 하든지 나무도 좋지 않고 열매도 좋지 않다 하든지 하라 그 열매로 나무를 아느니라(마12:33)
Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. (Matthew 12: 33)

거짓 선지자들을 삼가라 양의 옷을 입고 너희에게 나아오나 속에는 노략질하는 이리라 그들의 열매로 그들을 알지니 가시나무에서 포도를, 또는 엉겅퀴에서 무화과를 따겠느냐 이와 같이 좋은 나무마다 아름다운 열매를 맺고 못된 나무가 나쁜 열매를 맺나니 좋은 나무가 나쁜 열매를 맺을 수 없고 못된 나무가 아름다운 열매를 맺을 수 없느니라(마7:15~18)
Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. (Matthew 7: 15-18)

성령의 사람인지 귀신의 좀비인지 아는 것은 열매로 아는 것입니다.
You know by the fruit of the Spirit, whether the person is true servant of God or not.

성령의 열매는 거룩한 성품으로 변화되었는지 살펴보는 것이 가장 중요합니다.
And you must see if the person is holy in his character.

바울이 콕 집어서 말씀하신 성령의 열매는 사랑과 희락과 화평과 오래 참음과 자비와 양선과 충성과 온유와 절제예요.(갈5:22,23)
Paul told us the exact fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Galatians 5: 22-23)

그러나 양의 탈을 쓴 이리는 탐욕과 교만과 위선으로 가득 차 있을 것입니다.
But the wolf in sheep skin should be full of greed, pride, and hypocrisy.

그러므로 거룩한 성품이 없는 목자라면 뒤도 돌아보지 않고 도망치기 바랍니다.
So if you don't find holiness within your pastor, just run; don't look back.

또한 하나님께서 성령의 은사를 주신 목적이 무엇일까요?
And think about this: what is the purpose of God giving such gifts?

바로 영혼을 구원하여 천국백성으로 삼고 제자를 양육하여 하나님의 도구로 사용하시는 것이죠.
They are given so that we can rescue souls, make disciples, and use them as God's tools.

그러나 대형교회의 담임목사가 되어 부와 명예를 얻는 목회성공의 수단으로 삼는 목사는 죄다 귀신의 좀비들일 겁니다.
But the pastors who consider their church and people as a way to create revenue and fame must be zombies, servants of Satan.

그러므로 성령의 증거와 변화, 능력과 열매를 맺는 제자들을 양육하지 않는 교회의 목회자들은 죄다 성령이 함께 하시는 종이 아닐 거예요.
Therefore, pastors who don't cultivate disciple who bring spiritual changes or fruit of the Spirit are probably not the ones that work with God.
