The Crucial Reason Why God Is Not With You

여러분은 하나님과 동행하는 삶을 살고 있습니까?
Do you live a life with God right beside you?

하나님은 여러분과 함께 하시고 계십니까? 뭐 그렇다고 믿으라는 게, 우리네 교회의 모범답안입니다.
Is God with you? "Believe that He is." is the correct answer churches provide.

그러나 제가 말하는 의도는, 하나님이 동행하신다는 걸 믿으라고 게 아니고, 그렇게 살고 있냐고 묻고 있습니다.
But what I ask you is "Do you live with God?" not "Do you believe God is with you?"

즉 하나님이 당신과 함께 하시는 증거와 능력, 열매가 있냐고 묻고 있는 중입니다.
I ask you if you have the power of the Spirit, the fruit of God.

그러나 이렇게 구체적으로 물으면 뻘쭘해지는 게 우리네 크리스천의 실상이에요.
The reality is that people tend not to answer when these kinds of specific questions are raised.

솔직히 말해서, 그렇게 믿고 싶지만 현실은 아니기 때문이죠.
The truth is that their lives are not as great as they would want.

믿고 있다고 말하는 것과 믿는 증거가 나타나는 것은 다릅니다.
Believing in the Spirit's indwelling and the Spirit actually living within are two different things.

하나님과 동행하는 사람들이 어떤 삶을 살았는지 잘 생각이 나지 않으면, 아브라함과 이삭, 야곱과 요셉, 모세와 다윗을 떠올리면 됩니다.
If you cannot think of how God's people lived, think of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, and David.

또한 예수님과 12사도들의 행적을 살펴보아도 되죠.
You could also think of the lives of the 12 apostles.

그러나 그런 사람을 우리네 주변에서 볼 수 없다는 게, 우리가 마주한 암울한 현실이자 불편한 진실입니다.
It is unfortunate and sad that we cannot really see people like the ones mentioned above.

그러나 상황이 암울하고 부정적이라도 딱히 뾰족한 해결책도 보이지 않습니다.
And there seems to be no solution for the lack of these people, although present situation is not looking too great.

그래서 하나님이 함께 하지 않는다고 말하면, 지금까지 교회에서 배워왔고 들어온 것과 충돌이 생기며 지옥에 들어갈 운명이라는 말이 아닙니까?
If you say God is not with you, that just makes everything we've learned in church becomes controversial; that makes Hell as the final destination for all of us.

그래서 아무도 그런 얘기를 입 밖에 끄집어 낼 수가 없습니다.
So no one talks about this, not after knowing what kind of upset it will bring.

그렇기에 하나님과 동행하는 삶을 살았던 성경의 위인들의 삶의 모습은 아니지만, 그렇다고 아니라고도 할 수 없는 어정쩡한 모습으로 살아가고 있는 셈입니다.
So you are kinda stuck in the middle; you can’t say you are living like how the people in the Bible did, but you are not completely apart from God.

그러나 성경말씀이 절대 무오한 진리이며, 성경의 잣대로 영혼의 운명이 결정된다면 보통 큰일이 아니지요.
But it would be a dire situation, if the Bible is the absolute truth, and the souls are graded and determined to their destinations accordingly.

자신에게 성령이 함께 하는 증거나 변화, 능력과 열매가 없다면, 자신 안에 성령이 거주하지 않는다는 증거이기 때문이죠.
Because that means you may not have the Holy Spirit within you, if you don’t show signs that are mentioned in the Bible.

여기까지 인정한다면, 도대체 왜 자신에게 성령이 거주하시지 않는 이유는 무엇일까 궁금해질 겁니다.
If you follow what I’m saying and agree, you’d be curious about why the Holy Spirit doesn’t live inside you.

너는 마음을 다하고 뜻을 다하고 힘을 다하여 네 하나님 여호와를 사랑하라(신6:5)
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. (Deuteronomy 6: 5)

그러나 네가 거기서 네 하나님 여호와를 찾게 되리니 만일 마음을 다하고 뜻을 다하여 그를 찾으면 만나리라(신4:29)
But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul. (Deuteronomy 4: 29)

오늘 네 하나님 여호와께서 이 규례와 법도를 행하라고 네게 명령하시나니 그런즉 너는 마음을 다하고 뜻을 다하여 지켜 행하라(신26:16)
The Lord your God commands you this day to follow these decrees and laws; carefully observe them with all your heart and with all your soul. (Deuteronomy 26: 16)

여호와의 증거들을 지키고 전심으로 여호와를 구하는 자는 복이 있도다(시119:2)
Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart— (Psalm 119: 2)

내가 여호와인 줄 아는 마음을 그들에게 주어서 그들이 전심으로 내게 돌아오게 하리니 그들은 내 백성이 되겠고 나는 그들의 하나님이 되리라(렘24:7)
I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart. (Jeremiah 24: 7)

여호와의 눈은 온 땅을 두루 감찰하사 전심으로 자기에게 향하는 자들을 위하여 능력을 베푸시나니(대하16:9)
For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war." (2 Chronicles 16: 9)

우리는 오로지 기도하는 일과 말씀 사역에 힘쓰리라 하니(행6:4)
and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word." (Acts 6: 4)

그들이 사도의 가르침을 받아 서로 교제하고 떡을 떼며 오로지 기도하기를 힘쓰니라(행2:42)
They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. (Acts 2: 42)

여기, 제가 성경말씀에서 하나님을 구하고, 하나님을 사랑하고, 하나님의 계명을 지키고, 하나님께 돌아오고, 하나님께 향하고, 하나님께 기도하는 사람들의 태도를 살펴보았습니다.
Here are what people of God do; they love God, abide by his commands, return to God, commit to God, and pray.

그랬더니 놀랍게도, 같은 의미의 동의어를 반복하고 있었습니다.
And the words repeat, for every verse.

구체적으로 마음을 다하고, 힘을 다하고, 뜻을 다하고, 전심으로, 오로지 힘썼다는 내용입니다.
People focused on devoting themselves to love God 'with all their hearts, minds, and souls.'

하나님을 섬기는 백성들의 마음의 자세가 전심으로 마음을 향하고, 오직 그 일에만 힘써야 한다고 말하고 있습니다.
The Bible says people of God must devote themselves to him with all they have and only focus on doing so.

그래서 여러분은 하나님을 섬기는 일에 마음을 다하고 계신가요?
So do you devote your everything to God? Constantly?

그렇다면 그게 무엇일까요? 주일성수와 십일조와 각종 희생적인 신앙행위를 하는 것입니까? 그럴 수도 있습니다.
So what does 'devoting yourself' really mean? Does that include all the church activities? Maybe.

그러나 여러분에게서 하나님이 함께 하는 증거나 능력, 열매가 나타나지 않는다면 이유는 단 한 가지입니다.
But if you don't show the proof that God is with you or fruit of the Spirit, there is only one reason.

하나님께서 여러분이 전심으로 섬긴다고 인정하지 않기 때문이죠.
God does not approve of your faith.

뭐, 지금까지 여러분의 신앙행위를 보고, 여러분네 교회의 목회자들이나 교인들이 칭찬해주고 박수쳐줄 수도 있죠.
Yes, other people may see all your work in church and praise you for it.

그러나 그게 뭐 중요한가요? 하나님이 인정해주고 기뻐해야 하는 것이 아닙니까?
But what importance does it have, if God is doesn't consider it important?

그래서 여러분에게, 성경의 위인들에게서 드러나는 하나님이 함께 하시는 증거가 나타나고 있습니까?
Do you have the proof of faith, like the ones in the biblical characters carried?

아니라면 아닌 것이고, 없다면 없는 겁니다. 없는데도 우기지 마세요.
If not, you are not approved. If you don't have those signs, you don't have those signs. You can't say you do when you don't.

그렇다고 여러분의 삶이 바뀌는 것도 아니고 천국에 들어가는 자격이 얻어지는 것도 아닙니다.
That won't make your life change in any way; and that doesn't give you the right to enter Heaven, either.

자기만족과 자기위안을 삼는다면 정신건강에 좋을지 몰라도 빛 좋은 개살구가 아닙니까? 아니라고요?
If you 'believe' God approves you faith, that is only good for your mental health; unfortunately, it won't do you any good other than that. No?

제가 잘못 생각하고 있는 거라고요? 전심으로 하나님을 섬기고 마음을 다하여 하나님을 사랑하고 있다고요? 오홋, 그렇습니까?
Am I wrong to say this? You claim to love God with all your heart? Really?

그렇다면 듣던 중 다행이네요.
That's comforting to hear.

그들이 사도의 가르침을 받아 서로 교제하고 떡을 떼며 오로지 기도하기를 힘쓰니라(행2:42)
They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. (Acts 2: 42)

쉬지 말고 기도하라 이것이 그리스도 예수 안에서 너희를 향하신 하나님의 뜻이니라(살전5:17~18)
pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5: 17-18)

여러분이 마음을 다하여 하나님을 찾으며, 마음을 다하여 하나님을 구하며, 마음을 다하여 하나님께 향하고 있는 증거는 오로지 기도에 힘쓰는 겁니다.
The only proof of you loving God with all your heart, all your soul, and with all your strength is you praying continually.

말하자면 쉬지 않고 하나님을 부르며 전심으로 성령의 내주를 간구하는 기도를 하는 것이죠.
In other words, you must be constantly praying for the Holy Spirit to come to you, calling out to God.

여러분은 그런 기도의 습관을 들여서 삶에서 실행하고 있습니까?
Do you have that kind of praying habit that you execute in your daily life?

대부분의 크리스천들은 새벽기도회에 나가서 10~20분 기도를 해도 가슴에 빛나는 훈장처럼 여기고 만족해하고 있지요.
Majority of Christians take pride in praying for 10-20 minutes in the early morning prayer meetings and are very much satisfied by it.

그런 사람들에게 하나님도 인정해주시고 동행하는 증거가 나타나고 있을까요?
Do signs of the Spirit show in them? Are they approved by God?

쉬지 않는 기도는, 적어도 아침과 밤에 각각 1시간 이상, 낮에도 틈만 나면 전심으로 하나님을 부르는 기도를 하고 있어야 합니다.
Continual prayer means to pray to God with all your heart every moment possible, including an hour in the morning, and an hour at night.

말하자면 하루 종일 하나님의 생각으로 가득 차서, 그분을 쉬지 않고 부르는 기도의 삶을 살고 있어야 하는 거죠.
That means you call out to God because your head is filled with thoughts of him.

하나님과 동행했던 성경의 위인들은 예외 없이 그런 기도의 삶을 살았습니다.
And that is how the men of faith the Bible mentioned lived.

그러므로 여러분이 하나님과 동행하는 삶을 살기 원한다면 쉬지 않는 기도의 습관을 들여야 할 겁니다.
So if you'd like God to be right by you, you must pray non-stop, and make a habit out of that.

아니라면 여러분은 하나님을 전심으로 섬기지 않는 것이고, 하나님은 그런 사람들이 세상에 살고 있는지 이름조차 모르고 계실 겁니다.
If not, you are not really worshipping and serving God with all your heart; God won't even know you exist.

그러므로 천국은 꿈도 꾸지 마시기 바랍니다.
In that case, don't even dream about entering Heaven.
