The God I Have Met

in #steemchurch5 years ago

Hi there. Pastor Shin from Christian Spirituality Academy here.

I write one or two columns everyday--that probably means I've written all the possible topics that I've come up with.

There are thousands of columns I have uploaded online.

But I still write today. Sometimes, writing columns feels like my actual job.

And yes, I have written personal pieces about how and when I've met God.

I'm pretty sure people who have visited CSA online probably have read about them.

And I write whatever I feel like talking about, even if the topics overlap.

So some columns sound similar to one another.

I know. It may be a bit repetitive from the readers' view. However, I don't care too much about overlapping subjects.

I write columns, thinking these are the homework assignments given to me by God; so please understand, although they are not always entertaining.

People who work for the big corporates like Samsung take their harsh work schedules as if they deserve them.

They work late, constantly, and they work when they are at home, too. They don't mind.

Blue collar workers get paid hourly, but office workers work hard anyway, although they are salaried.

You know why? It is because they are paid well.

And that is why many college students dream of working for those types of companies.

Because they get paid far too well, compared to salary they'd receive working for small companies.

And that is why those people's lives work around their work.

Even if they get married, their homes often become the place to sleep--just that; nothing more.

They sacrifice their lives and health, taking pride in the fact that they work for a great company.

And it's been a while since government jobs and teaching jobs have been popular career choices as well.

It is because these jobs are little more lenient in workload, compared to other salary jobs, and have guaranteed 401 k type savings, as well as retirement plans.

So schools proudly put up banners if their students become civil servants or teachers.

But as you know, these jobs don't guarantee happiness.

Big corporates don't guarantee job securities until the retirement; and civil servants are thrown out of the system as soon as they reach the retirement age.

Yeah, there is the 401k plans you could receive, which will make your life brighter, I suppose.

But, again, as you know, having these jobs won't always keep you happy.

I have never worked for a great corporate; I wasn't born with a silver spoon, either.

It was the opposite, actually. My father's business failed and was in great debt, which made my life pretty miserable.

So I had to work day and night, during my college years; it seemed like harsh labor was just a part of me.

So I was eager to make money, probably more than anyone in my age. I was greedy and impatient. My business wend down hard when I was in my early thirties; I was never happy after that.

I have written this all before in my columns; you are welcome to check them out.

But now, I am free of harsh labor that used to crush down on me on daily basis.

I thought it was my fate that I had to make my ends meet daily; and I still pinch myself to see if I'm dreaming, since I don't have to do the work.

And that's not all.

I had to go to my relatives, asking for help.

Thankfully, they knew how badly in shape I was and never told me to repay what I've borrowed.

But from their point of view, I was the loser of all losers.

There is no way I could look straight to their face, right?

So I've not seen my family, other than my immediate ones.

But not anymore. I have not changed in any way, but people look at me differently.

I am not that loser anymore.

And I have developed a way not to be affected by how others see me, no matter what they'd think of me, since I've been trying to lay low, away from everybody.

But I couldn't help myself to fall in guilt and self-consciousness.

I believed the only way to relieve myself from this miserable life was through death, while others were blooming in their middle age.

It was very painful for me; I lived because I couldn't kill myself. So I was surviving, extending my life day by day, since I did not die.

But not now. I am filled with peace and happiness.

I wake up as birds start singing, and I fall asleep as I look at the night sky.

Yeah, I am busier than before, but I am not trapped by obligated labor that keeps food on my table; so I am very happy, enjoying every moment of my life.

Now I am living, not surviving.

As you know, my life turned around completely, when I started to call out to God constantly, starting 15 years ago.

I was lead to peaceful life on green field with river of life when I let Jesus take all my heavy burden in my place.

The trainees all tell me that seeking God and calling out to him is really really hard.

I know this very well. But I really love to pray like this.

I love it because I am completely living a different life than before, through this prayer.

So I don't envy anything or anybody, no matter how wealthy or in high place they are.

It is because I know wealth and social status cannot give you happiness; and the possessions people have won't be of any use after they leave this earth.

I am still poor, but God makes sure I have enough to live; and he has promised my place in Heaven.

I mean, who won't try praying like this, if happiness and peaceful life is guaranteed just for calling out to God?

I know that you would also follow what I've done, with your life, if I were to receive all the riches in the world.

But many people left in the middle of it, because it was just too difficult for them.

By giving up, they will return to their old lives, making a living, depending on themselves.

They are people of this world, only believing in what they can see; they are ignorant about spiritual world.

So they cannot believe what God has promised us in the Bible.

They will roam around this world without permanent peace, and leave this world with resentment and disappointment.

It is just sad for me to see people only looking for proofs that they can see for themselves; unfortunately, they don't look for God.

I just thought about my past, as I saw people leaving. That is why I wrote this column today.

That's all for today. Thank you.

Great work indeed, our almighty cannot be compared to any creature in all standards. He is able to do God, love and caring at all times. This is the one we need to put our trust in Him! Thank you for using two different languages.
