A Call from God to Repentance

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, on whom my name is called, will humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sins, and I will heal their land. RV60

2 Chronicles 7:14 International version.

2 Chronicles 7:14 "If my people, who bear my name, humble themselves and pray, and seek me and abandon their misconduct, I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin and restore their land. NIV

In this new International version he says, "If my people, who have my name." These words are not addressed to everyone, nor are they addressed to the leaders of the church alone, much less to those who do not belong to the people of God. It says "If my people." These words were being addressed to the people of Israel in their time and now spiritual Israel is addressed to us today. These words are being directed for me and for you.

2 Chronicles 7:14 a call from God to repentance

Now let's reflect a little on what is coming:

What does it mean?
Condition or assumption by virtue, of which one concept is dependent on the other or others. If you arrive on Monday, you will arrive on time. Study, if you want to be a doctor.

Breaking down the verse object of this meditation we can say that:

These 4 conditions, if you fulfill them, you will receive a blessing:
• If you humble yourself
• If you pray
• If you are looking for me
• If they turned from their evil ways

Notice that the first condition means a lot
If my people will be humiliated. It is curious to see that he does not say, if everyone humbles himself, because he does not say whether the leaders of the church, the sinners, will humble themselves. What it says is, if my people will be humiliated, who are that people; you and I are the people of God.

When looking for the meaning of this word "humiliate" we will find one of the meanings is to bend or bend a part of the body, such as our head or knees, specifically as a sign of submission and compliance, another of its meanings is to bring down the pride and haughtiness of someone. hurt self-love or the dignity of someone.

In today's culture, an arrogant and arrogant attitude is promoted. Wanting to do things our way is simply an act of lack of humility. By thinking that we have everything under control, that we do not need any person to solve our problems, we are demonstrating that in our interior there is a great lack of humility.

Most of the time we have problems and instead of looking for the Lord, we decided to resolve with our own strength, and in our own way. Many times we simply decide to "ignore" God and take an attitude of self-pity. Think of this simple question. How many times do we let circumstances knock us down and make us feel defeated?

The attitude that we must have is to prostrate before God to (humiliate ourselves) and thus deposit in him all our anxiety, worries, doubts, illnesses and difficult circumstances, and believe in his word, because he takes care of us. The Lord tells us that we should not worry about anything, that rather, on every occasion, with prayer and petition, we present our petitions to him, thanking him at all times.

And with this we go to the second condition: "If my people pray.
This should make us think, if we are praying. if we are really taking time to present our petitions before God, or we are spending time pouring out our hearts in adoration to God in thanksgiving, this leads us to meditate and think if we are having good communication with our Heavenly Father.

Prayer implies having a communion with the father, and communion leads me to have a relationship and the relationship takes me to an intimacy with my father.

The Lord says: The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and their ears are attentive to our prayers.
Then we must know that we have to pray at all times. At this time we should know that we have to present everything to the Lord, our children, asking Him to keep their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. It is necessary that we cry out to God, because the family unit remains.

Today God calls you to look for him, today more than ever you must go before your heavenly father, to carry your burdens, your worries and that in it you can rest.

If my people are looking for me
We are living in times when evil has multiplied and the love of many has cooled down. We live in a time where selfishness prevails in the human being. Looking for a way to grow professionally, acquire a better working position, a material prosperity, and many other things. However, I want it to be clear that none of these things are bad, what is wrong is to be given the first place in seeking such achievements, when the first place we must give it is to God.

Remember if at some point you diligently look for something that got lost. We usually move furniture, we scrutinize under the bed, we turn everything we need and we make an effort and do what we can to find what we have lost.

Think that if you take that attitude before an object of "value" or the simple keys of the house, with what greater yearning we should look for God. When we look for something, we always have to make an effort to find it. We must rightly strive to seek God.

Do not look for him to see what he can give us, but look for his face to know him, as we seek to know him we will learn to be like him. That it is he who gives us the peace that surpasses all understanding and that which we need, who provides us with what we need and who strengthens us in times of difficulty.

Finding his face does not allow him to rest with the assurance that he will provide our spiritual, emotional and physical needs. Searching for the presence of God and his face will allow us to experience each and every one of God's attributes. He fills us with his grace so that wherever we live he will dwell in us.

If my people abandon their bad behavior

Our behavior is the way we behave or the actions we have towards other people. The behavior refers to the lifestyle of each human being. When God says "If my people forsake their wrongdoing", it means that if each person is converted to him from the heart, and turns away from all the iniquities and sins that we can have by ignoring his word, he will bless you. How will the Lord bless you if you stop your bad behavior? Making you free according to your search for him.

The Lord through the Holy Spirit, from His word gives you the tools so that you can persevere so that you can shape the character of Christ and receive the grace and glory that He has for you, that He can establish the heavenly designs in your life here and now.

Within the people of God, today we see the lack of fear of God, since we commit sins without even realizing it, as is the murmuring, by speaking badly of the leaders of the church or our coworkers. We commit sins of selfishness, where we seek is personal benefit. And we believe that the sins that only God sees and judges are those of not killing or stealing, because sin has no denominations, the sin of gossip is the same as stealing or killing.

So God is calling a people to serve him without masks in his heart, to turn from the evil way they are, because of iniquity; that we remove all the contamination that we have because iniquity operates in us.

I will listen to him from heaven, forgive his sin and restore his land.
When God speaks in this biblical passage, that he will hear from heaven, forgive our sins and restore our land, there is something important that the people of God must know and that while we are filled with iniquity the blessings reach us but they do not last us . Since you may be struggling with some sin, and leave it for a while, but at some point you fall back into the same sin or into a worse one.

Then until you do not attack the root of the problem that is iniquity, you can not walk in fullness and freedom, you must uproot it and renounce the generational curses that I bring with it.

Once you renounce them, God will hear your cry for being free of these curses that afflict us and have us tied to the enemy, will give us forgiveness because of our repentance and will restore us bringing blessings that will rest on us, which being free from iniquity they will have a place to stay attached.

We must examine ourselves daily, and act asking forgiveness from God and striving to change our way of living to resemble our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Sort:

Repentance is a commandment from God.

Let's start by noticing that the Lord not only preached repentance, but that He did it as if He were giving a command: "repent." And so they understood and their apostles also preached:
(Acts 17:30) "But God, having overlooked the times of this ignorance, now commands all men everywhere to repent."
When the Lord expressed himself in this way, he was making it clear that he is the King, and therefore, has the legitimate right to demand repentance. This is simple to understand. In the earthly realm, when a Roman emperor was crowned king, he did not invite the subjects of his kingdom to accept his authority if he pleased, but he demanded of all of them his submission and loyalty. And if the demands of a Roman emperor were absolute, how much more so of the King of heaven himself!
So, if we are going to preach the gospel as Christ did, we have to do so faithfully transmitting this command from God to people to repent. It is not something optional that man can accept or reject to his liking: "God commands all men everywhere to repent" (Acts 17:30).
And since repentance is a mandate from God, disobeying it will have serious consequences. The words of the Lord are clear about it:
(Lk 13: 3) "... But if you do not repent, you will all perish equally."

Contrition is an instruction from God.

How about we begin by seeing that the Lord lectured apology, as well as that He did it as though He were giving a summon: "apologize." And so they comprehended and their witnesses additionally lectured:

(Acts 17:30) "However God, having neglected the seasons of this obliviousness, now summons all men wherever to apologize."

At the point when the Lord conveyed what needs be along these lines, he was influencing it to clear that he is the King, and thusly, has the authentic ideal to request apology. This is easy to get it. In the natural domain, when a Roman sovereign was delegated lord, he didn't welcome the subjects of his kingdom to acknowledge his power in the event that he satisfied, however he requested of every one of them his accommodation and faithfulness. Also, if the requests of a Roman sovereign were supreme, the amount all the more so of the King of paradise himself!

In this way, on the off chance that we will lecture the gospel as Christ did, we need to do as such dependably transmitting this order from God to individuals to atone. It isn't something discretionary that man can acknowledge or reject to his preferring: "God orders all men wherever to apologize" (Acts 17:30).

Furthermore, since contrition is a command from God, defying it will have genuine results. The expressions of the Lord are clear about it:

(Lk 13: 3) "... In any case, on the off chance that you don't atone, you will all die similarly."

All things considered, no is anything but a call to contrition. You have to peruse the entire entry. God is stating that if ISRAEL is unfaithful and God sends fiasco on the nation THEN on the off chance that they apologize he will mend their territory.

(2 Chronicles 7:11-16 NIV) When Solomon had completed the sanctuary of the LORD and the regal royal residence, and had prevailing with regards to doing all he had as a main priority to do in the sanctuary of the LORD and in his own royal residence, {12} the LORD appeared to him around evening time and stated: "I have heard your supplication and have picked this place for myself as a sanctuary for penances. {13} "When I quiets down the sky so that there is no rain, or summon insects to eat up the land or send a torment among my kin, {14} if my kin, who are called by my name, will lower themselves and supplicate and look for my face and abandon their evil behavior, at that point will I get notification from paradise and will excuse their wrongdoing and will mend their property. {15} Now my eyes will be open and my ears mindful to the supplications offered in this place. {16} I have picked and blessed this sanctuary with the goal that my Name might be there for eternity. My eyes and my heart will dependably be there.

There's a more drawn out entry in 1 Kings

(1 Kings 8:33-39 NIV) "When your kin Israel have been vanquished by a foe since they have trespassed against you, and when they swing back to you and admit your name, imploring and making supplication to you in this sanctuary, {34} then get notification from paradise and excuse the transgression of your kin Israel and take them back to the land you provided for their fathers. {35} "When the sky are quiet down and there is no rain on the grounds that your kin have trespassed against you, and when they ask toward this place and admit your name and abandon their wrongdoing since you have tormented them, {36} then get notification from paradise and pardon the transgression of your workers, your kin Israel. Show them the correct method to live, and send rain on the land you gave your kin for a legacy. {37} "When starvation or torment goes to the land, or scourge or buildup, insects or grasshoppers, or when a foe blockades them in any of their urban communities, whatever catastrophe or illness may come, {38} and when a supplication or request is made by any of your kin Israel- - every one mindful of the burdens of his own heart, and spreading out his hands toward this sanctuary - {39} then get notification from paradise, your home. Pardon and act; manage each man as indicated by everything he does, since you know his heart (for only you know the hearts of all men),

It ought to be noticed that Americans are not God's kin. We're not called by his name. God hasn't rebuffed America for its wrongdoings yet. Christians in America have no compelling reason to atone in the event that they're as of now appropriate with God.

2 Chronicles 7:14 is a standout amongst the most twisted verses today. Alongside Jeremiah 29:11.

The importance of this essential doctrine is underscored by the fact that New Testament narratives specifically mention repentance in their summaries of the preaching of John the Baptist (Matthew 3:2), Jesus Christ (Matthew 4:7), and the apostle Paul (Acts 20:21). This should not be surprising since Jesus, who commissioned His followers to “make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19), said that “repentance and remission of sins should be preached to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem” (Luke 24:47).
A correct understanding of repentance is absolutely fundamental to biblical Christianity. The candidate for Christian baptism must know what repentance means, what to repent of, and how to distinguish between real and counterfeit repentance. He or she should also have a solid understanding of how repentance relates to Godly sorrow, divine grace, and saving faith.

Repentance is a change of attitude, this implies to stop doing what we used to do that was harmful to our lives; Sometimes repentance produces pain, sadness. God demands of our lives that we repent and turn to Him. It is a turn of one hundred and eighty degrees that we must give, and the most important thing is not to do it again, for which we had repented.

Actually, no it isn't a call to repentance. You need to read the whole passage. God is saying that if ISRAEL is unfaithful and God sends disaster on the country THEN if they repent he will heal their land.

(2 Chronicles 7:11-16 NIV) When Solomon had finished the temple of the LORD and the royal palace, and had succeeded in carrying out all he had in mind to do in the temple of the LORD and in his own palace, {12} the LORD appeared to him at night and said: "I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a temple for sacrifices. {13} "When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, {14} if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. {15} Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. {16} I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.

There's a longer passage in 1 Kings

(1 Kings 8:33-39 NIV) "When your people Israel have been defeated by an enemy because they have sinned against you, and when they turn back to you and confess your name, praying and making supplication to you in this temple, {34} then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel and bring them back to the land you gave to their fathers. {35} "When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because your people have sinned against you, and when they pray toward this place and confess your name and turn from their sin because you have afflicted them, {36} then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your servants, your people Israel. Teach them the right way to live, and send rain on the land you gave your people for an inheritance. {37} "When famine or plague comes to the land, or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers, or when an enemy besieges them in any of their cities, whatever disaster or disease may come, {38} and when a prayer or plea is made by any of your people Israel--each one aware of the afflictions of his own heart, and spreading out his hands toward this temple-- {39} then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Forgive and act; deal with each man according to all he does, since you know his heart (for you alone know the hearts of all men),

It should be noted that Americans are not God's people. We're not called by his name. God hasn't punished America for its sins yet. Christians in America have no need to repent if they're already right with God.

2 Chronicles 7:14 is one of the most misapplied verses today. Along with Jeremiah 29:11.

Psalm 51:17
'The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.'
The almighty searches to and throw throughout the earth search for those whose heart is right before him.
