Why disguise prophecies of the Bible in symbols? Luke 8: 10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest it is given by parables, which seeing, they see not, and hearing they do not understand. Many of the apocalyptic prophecies were given, while the prophets were in a hostile foreign country. One of God's reasons wrapped in symbols of prophecy was to protect messages.

Example of Symbolic Biblical Text:

Revelation 5: 6
Then I saw, in the midst of the four living beings and the throne and the elders, a Lamb who was standing and seemed to have been sacrificed. "He had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent throughout the earth". 

Revelation 5: 6 identifies the seven spirits with the seven eyes of the Lamb and affirms that they are "sent by all the earth."

There are at least three possible interpretations of the seven spirits of God. The first is that the seven spirits of God are symbolic of the Holy Spirit. The Bible and especially the book of Revelation, uses the number 7 to refer to perfection and termination.

The second is that the seven spirits of God refer to seven angelic beings, possibly seraphim or cherubim. This would fit with the many other angelic beings described in the book of Revelation.

But the third one is based on Isaiah 11: 2, which says:

 Isaiah 11: 2 And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on him; spirit of wisdom and intelligence, spirit of counsel and power, spirit of knowledge and fear of Jehovah. 

This could explain the seven spirits of God: 

1 The Spirit of Jehovah.

2 Spirit of wisdom.

3 Spirit of intelligence.

4 Spirit of counsel.

5 Spirit of power.

6 Spirit of knowledge.

7 Spirit of fear of Jehovah.

The Bible does not specifically say who or what are the seven spirits of Revelation 5: 6, but the most accurate interpretation and that has more coherence is that they are the Holy Spirit, because it seems the most probable as explained by Isaiah 11: 2.
