DOING EXPLOITS BY THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit has dwelt here on earth since His arrival on the day of Pentecost. You do not need to wait to receive Him as the apostles had to. The Holy Spirit is resident here on earth, attending to whosoever desires Him. If you are born again, He already dwells in you. All you need do is to stir Him up to do what He is sent to help you accomplish. Jesus said to His disciples before He left:
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8

You need the Holy Spirit's power 'to reign here on earth; therwise the devil will deal with you.
The Holy Spirit helps you speak in an unknown tongue which only God understands. This prayer language helps you to pray according to the will of God (Rom. 8:26-27). This language is what to engage when you seem to be confronted with an issue and you don't know what to do and how to pray. It is what to switch to when you want to intercede on behalf of others. It also helps you to praise God acceptably and to give thanks well (l Cor. 14:17). What's more, the devil can't intercept your prayer and praises when you use this language, because he doesn't understand the heavenly language. Praying and praising in tongues is a guaranteed express line to God.
But then, the Holy Spirit in you is for doing much more than these; He is for doing exploits here on earth! We are in the day of God's power, and the Holy Spirit is the person sent to help you reign in power.
Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth. Psalm 110:3

The anointing of the Holy Ghost upon men is not to make them fall, but to cause them to rise up and take charge. It is not just for vibrating and speaking in tongues; it is to establish your dominion in the midst of opposition. That is why no matter how saved you are, until you are anointed you can't get much done. The anointing is a divine enabling. It is a higher encounter with the Holy Spirit than the baptism.
In the Old Testament, Joshua the servant of Moses had no title or particular office. His primary assignment was to minister to the servant of God. But when the anointing came upon him via the laying on of hands, the people submitted to his leadership.
And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the Lord commanded Moses.

Elijah was a man with a fiery anointing; he called down fire from heaven to slay the prophets of Baal. After his departure, Elisha his minister took up his mantle and went fon/vrard, dividing Jordan into two. The sons of the prophets who had earlier mocked him came bowing down to him when they saw the double portion of Elijah's spirit and anointing upon him. Unction gave Elisha a new position.

David was a man that craved for the "fresh-oil". Was it any wonder then that he never lost a battle? The oil upon lum was always fresh. He said:
But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.
-Psalm 92:10
As a result of the fresh oil he always carried, David's eyes saw his desires on his enemies and he flourished like a palm tree and was strong like the cedar of Lebanon. He was productive, even in old age.
Saul became captain over the Lord's people after he was anointed king in first Samuel 10. Likewise, when you are anointed, you become a captain among men. Whatever you say stands, as your word will be a command. You will say to the devil, "Go!" and he will go, and you will say to blindness, "Go!" and it will obey you. You will be enthroned captain in your field when the Holy Ghost comes upon you.
Also, as a result of the anointing, whatever had been missing or stolen from you will be restored, as was the case with Saul. You will go forward, making satisfactory progress. Like Saul also, you too will be favoured, and the anointing will cause men to give to you.

In the New Testament, we see that even though Jesus was the most talented mortal that ever lived, He could do nothing until the anointing came upon Him and declared Him to the world. His talent could not distinguish Him. He was highly gifted, because at age twelve great men had already begun to marvel at His wisdom. But He still needed to be endued with power from on high before He could fulfill His commission.
