Leave time to be with God

in #steemchurch5 years ago

Jesus gave himself for us and His desire is that we give ourselves completely to Him. Thus, our time also belongs to Him. This does not necessarily mean that we must leave our occupations, but it means that we need to give priority to Him and live in His presence at all times. But, in the middle of the day-to-day current, we may have difficulty separating a time for prayer and reading the Word. If you have experienced this type of problem, here are some principles that can help. Know that the Lord Himself is the one who will lead you to live ever closer and closer to Him!

Daily communion with God renews us, keeps us from falling into temptations and gives us the strength and wisdom to continue our day-to-day activities. God's desire is that we be in communion with him, and it was with that goal that he did all his work on Earth. He awaits our presence!

However, there are many factors that prevent us from having a daily moment of intimate communion with the Lord. The first one is time. Someone could argue that times have changed and that today it is difficult to have free time. It is true that, at present, the world is full of information and occupations, but ...

God did not bend to our nervous haste, nor adopted the methods of our mechanical age. The man who wants to know God needs to dedicate time. AW Tozer.

Yes, the things of God are not satisfied with the things of this age. We are the ones who must conform to the things of God.

We have an interesting example in the Bible: Daniel. He occupied an important position in the kingdom of Babylon; that is, with certainty, he was someone very busy. But three times a day he separated the time to pray (Dan 6:10) and the king once said that he served God continually (Daniel 6:16). * Remember: where there is interest, there is time. *

Maybe, at the end of the day, you realize that you have not had time to have a moment of communion with the Lord, and in that hour you are too tired for that. That's why it's better not to stay for later. The best way is ...

Go to Him as soon as he gets up

The aurora is the door of the day and should be kept with prayers. It is the tip of the cord that binds the actions of the day, and must be tied with devotion. If we perceive better the greatness of life, we would be more careful with their mornings. Whoever runs out of bed for business, and does not wait to worship, is as foolish as one who does not dress or wash his face, or as foolish as one who throws himself into battle without arms or armor. That we bathe in the refreshing river of communion with God, before the loneliness and the weight of the road begin to oppress. Charles Spurgeon.

Many can testify: if we start the day with a moment of communion with the Lord, our activities for the rest of the day become easier to do. This also makes us more confident against enemy traps during the rest of the day.

The most important and most urgent matter that I have to deal with every day is to keep my soul very happy in the Lord. George Müller.

The communion with the Lord is what makes us truly happy and must be our most urgent occupation of the day. For what it was for George Müller, a brother who lived in the 18th century and for prayer, he did extraordinary things.

If something happened and you could not go to him in the morning, go as soon as possible.

An important practice is to invoke the name of the Lord, upon rising and throughout the day. But, sometimes we can have ...

Difficulties to invoke with reality

"The Lord is near to those who call upon him, to all who call on him in truth" (Psalm 145: 18). "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:13). In addition to these, there are many verses in the Bible about invoking. Invoking the Lord also saves us from the difficulties of everyday life, from the attacks of the enemy and saves us from ourselves. Do you believe in those words? There is no doubt, it is the Word of God that says. We must believe much more in her than in our feelings. If you believe in these words, the simple act of calling "Oh, Lord Jesus!" It will make you experience the wonderful presence of the Lord. For the rest, invoking is an excellent way to start a prayer. However, someone can say ...

"I can not pray!"

There are several factors that hinder us when we pray. First, be honest. David was very sincere in his prayers in the Psalms. Tell the Lord that you can not pray and that you need help to see and eliminate those factors. Ask him to show if you committed any sin and, having shown, confess to him, for our sins separate between us and God (Is 59: 2).

An important principle that the Lord left was prayer in the secret room:

"You, then, when you pray, enter your room and, closing the door, you will pray to your Father, who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you" (Mt 6, 6).

In this verse, we are sure that if we move away from the various distractions of the world and of men and seek the intimacy of being alone with God, He will reveal Himself to us. But, even so, it may be that when you try to pray you feel heavy, with a cold heart, and even unworthy of going to Him.

Do not think about how little you have to offer to God, but as soon as He wants to give you. Just place yourself in front of Him and contemplate His face; meditate on his love, on his wonders, on his tenderness and compassionate love. Just say to Him how everything is sinful, cold and heavy: it is the loving heart of the Father that will illuminate and warm yours. Andrew Murray

The main function of prayer is to listen to God, not to talk to him. First, open your heart. God always has something new about himself to reveal us.

And He is also revealed through His Word. Therefore, prayer and reading of the Bible should go together: reading a verse helps initiate a prayer, and prayer helps initiate a reading of the Bible!

We can also do a daily reading of a devotional, such as the food diary, for example. This helps us to deal with some situations, in which we can say:

"I do not know what to pray!"

Does not have an issue for prayer? Then open the Bible, there you will find business to converse with God. Try to pray over some verses. * Praying the Word is a very valuable practice! *

Remember: It depends on the Lord, confess your disability. He comes to those who recognize their weaknesses and humble themselves before Him (2 Chron. 7:14, 2 Cor. 12:10). Pray until I get to pray! At first it may be forced, but continue until it becomes spontaneous. It is like a dirty channel through which water begins to flow. As the water passes, it removes obstacles and flows more and more freely.

Finally, we must always remember that, in our Christian life, we have to have perseverance. In many passages of the Bible, God tells us to persevere. It is He who gives us the strength and wisdom to persevere. No matter what difficulties arise, we will continue to look towards Him.

"Therefore, we too, since we have to surround ourselves with such a large cloud of witnesses, getting rid of all the weight and the sin that tenaciously besets us, run, with perseverance, the career that is proposed to us, looking firmly to the Author and , consummate of the faith, Jesus "(Hebrews 12: 1-2a).
