WHAT YOU SEE DEFINES WHERE YOU'LL REACH: FOCUS RIGHTLY

When God said that we walk by faith not by sight (2 Corinthians 5: 7), did He actually not want us to utilize the eyes that He gave us? Certainly not. Then, why would He even tell characters in the scripture to “see”? If the eyes were not useful for life, why would Jesus have to open the eyes of the blind? Was it an error in the part of God to create man with eyes in such strategic position? I hope that am not alone with such mind-wandering questions.

The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness...Matthew 6:22–23

The eye has been seen as the beauty of man. The eye shows the way; it tells when we are on the wrong path, but sadly, the eye also places limitations on where we can reach. Though God has given man the third eye, which is of the mind (insight), the physical eye ideally has no limitation in its viewing reach. Yes, you didn’t notice that. Just be conscious now with how many things your eye can see at a moment, you discover that they are bondless, even beyond counting.

There is a this story of a class where the teacher during a day set for test came in with a white sheet of paper with only a black dot on it. He showed the students and told them to describe what they see in an hour. Surprisingly, all of the student, numbering more than 50 wrote that teacher had a black dot on the paper. All were happy to have got such a simple test an had long finished before the finishing time. After perusing their scripts, the teacher came in and said that they all failed because they are limited to seeing the odds of life. He went on to amaze the students that none of them saw how vast the whitish area of the paper was. Despite the fact that the black dot only covered 0.01% of the paper or less, the students spent all energy and time in seeing the insignificant black dot.

Yes, we often do like the students. We focus on the minor, the insignificant, the ills, and the wrongs. Simply, we often focus on the limited. Unconsciously, we are often limited by our sight. God knew it, and that is why we are admonished to walk in with the third eye which is the eye of the mind; the eye of faith. This is a magnifying eye that brings things that are far away to a close view, making it bigger and realer. This is why scripture says that faith is the evidence of things not seen. That is, even when those things are not visibly viewable at the time being, but the mind brings it quite close and visible in its real-time size. However, Satan the deceiver also counterfeited the third eye with helping some folks see the wrong things bigger.

Some characters in the scripture maximized their third eye (faith) to their advantage and received exceeding fruits, while others minimized their third eye (fear) to their detriment and were destroyed. Let’s discus a few:

  • During the fortification of prophet Jeremiah for ministry, God asked in Jere. 1: 11, 13NIV, “…what do you see…?” As Jeremiah’s responses was in sync with what God saw, he was empowered for the assignment (Jere. 1: 12, 14-19).
  • In 1 Kings 18: 43 - 45, when Elijah asked his servant to watch the sea, until the servant saw something, there was no assurance for the rain.
  • The ten cowardly spies of Canaan in Numbers 13: 33 saw themselves as grasshoppers and were eaten up in the wilderness without reaching the Promised Land.

God is still asking us what we see to know whether we are operating in the same page with Him. There are immovable limitations, where one cannot see what God sees. What do you see?

Joseph Prince has this to say:

Don’t spend your time and energy constantly focused on what’s not right with your circumstances. Jesus said that the lamp of the body is the eye. When you keep focusing on what is evil in your life, your eye is bad, and your whole body will be full of darkness. But if you keep looking at the bright side—at His goodness, mercy and favor toward you—your eye is good, and your whole body will be full of light

Nugget: What you see, defines where you reach.

AW.

Very captivating his teaching brother, the third eye is the mind, I really learned that concept that makes sense. Good test that the professor placed, we must expand, our field of vision.

Yeah brother, The position of our Eye is strategic for the future (vision) not just the immediate environment. We must also condition our eyes to view in the Eyes of God. Thanks for coming around
