There is an increasing rate of divorce in our western world today and I would say to myself that people has to understand God’s stand on marriage. In the days of Moses when men heart were hardened,

Matthew 19:8 Amplified Bible (AMP)
8 He said to them, “Because your hearts were hard and stubborn Moses permitted you to divorce your wives; but from the beginning it has not been this way.

Today many approve and result to divorce and remarriage for so many reasons-childlessness, husband becoming poor, incompatibility, societal pressure, parent pressure and so much more, this doesn’t change God standards, it remains the same

Matthew 19:4-7 Amplified Bible (AMP)
4 He replied, “Have you never read that He who created them from the beginning MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE, 5 and said, ‘FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND SHALL BE JOINED INSEPARABLY TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH’? 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.” 7 The Pharisees said to Him, “Why then did Moses command us to GIVE HER A CERTIFICATE OF DIVORCE AND SEND HER AWAY?”

In the institution of marriage, the divine instruction is that a man leaves his father and mother and be joined to his wife and nothing should separate them. The marriage knot is to be tied to prevent loosening. God didn’t make any provision for divorce. Marriage is a lifelong covenant which only can be dissolved by death. Splitting from one’s spouse is against God’s mandate and it’s punishable by him.

God is the author of marriage, he is always a witness between a husband and wife as they exchange their marriage vows on the altar. God hates divorce because its signals betrayal to the marriage vow taken, God hates divorce because it disregards his express commands. The bible says in

Malachi 2vs 14-16 Amplified Bible (AMP)
But you say, “Why [does He reject it]?” Because the LORD has been a witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously. Yet she is your marriage companion and the wife of your covenant [made by your vows]. 15 But not one has done so who has a remnant of the Spirit. And what did that one do while seeking a godly offspring? Take heed then to your spirit, and let no one deal treacherously against the wife of your youth. 16 “For I hate [a]divorce,” says the LORD, the God of Israel, “and him who covers his garment with wrong and violence,” says the LORD of hosts. “Therefore keep watch on your spirit, so that you do not deal treacherously [with your wife].”

The holy nature of God cannot allow divorce, therefore when there are offences, no matter how grievous it may be the couple must learn to resolve them in line with dictates of the scripture.

Colossians 3:12-14 Amplified Bible (AMP)
12 So, as God’s own chosen people, who are holy [set apart, sanctified for His purpose] and well-beloved [by God Himself], put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience [which has the power to endure whatever injustice or unpleasantness comes, with good temper]; 13 bearing graciously with one another, and willingly forgiving each other if one has a cause for complaint against another; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so should you forgive. 14 Beyond all these things put on and wrap yourselves in [unselfish] love, which is the perfect bond of unity [for everything is bound together in agreement when each one seeks the best for others].

A happy marriage is a union of two lovers and forgivers, love cements the marriage, Any successful marriage is the result of falling in love over again with the partner. Marriage is indeed desirable and honorable in all things.

Hebrews 13:4 Amplified Bible (AMP)
4 Marriage is to be held in honor among all [that is, regarded as something of great value], and the marriage bed undefiled [by immorality or by any sexual sin]; for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.

No one must allow anything no matter how big or small to break the home. It is an investment that pays great dividends, you just need to work at it prayerfully, lovingly and sacrificially if you want to avoid divorce. Remember you need the companionship of your soul mate in your old age, so keep your marriage. It is very important that you are yoked with the lord Jesus, if you want to keep your home from breaking up."Divorce is not an option"

Unless the LORD builds the house,They labor in vain who build it;Unless the LORD guards the city,The watchman keeps awake in vain.
