MORE THAN WEEPING

in #steemchurch5 years ago

Luke 23:27-31 KJV: And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.
But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.
For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.
Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.
For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?

It is seen and known that women can hardly hold back their tears.
They pour their heart and emotion at the slightest provocation.

There were these women, daughters of Jerusalem who were moved to tears over the ill-treament of a just and innocent man. They must have wondered 'is this man not the son of a woman'?

You can imagine, this sword piercing through Mary's soul (Luke 2:35). Who knows the gloom that came upon Jerusalem on the day that Jesus was crucified.
But Jesus in his selfless way told them to weep not for him, but to weep for themselves and their children. He did not use his condition to wipe up unnecessary sentiments

Religion must go beyond emotion and sentiments. Christ will not like a situation where people go on a violent demonstration because somebody defamed his name.

Could one count the number of books, films and documentaries that have been written and produced to discredit Jesus?
Nobody should organize a riot or protest for Jesus

Christians have a way to protest, and it is not on streets, but in supplications.
There are some people, when they hear, watch or read the crucifixion story, are moved by emotion that they weep and wail.
That is a good show of concern, and Jesus appreciates that, but he expects you to weep for your sin and repent, because that in the first place was what took him to the cross.

The best you can do for Jesus in expressing concern for his death is for you to REPENT
God help you as you do this.
Remain blessed!!

Yeah @Zellypearl, we aint to cry for the pains CHrist went through, rather, our tears should be that of a broken Spirit that is ready to repent and turn to God. God bless you for sharing this.
