Bullock's Oriole
I visited a new place today!
I joined @kass-and-bax on their urban mushing training this morning along Jordan River Parkway Trail. This trail is paved and runs many miles starting north of Salt Lake down to the north side of Utah Lake. It is a great place for biking, hiking, running, and birdwatching! Although I had visited many spots along the trail since we moved here, I had not been to the location we went to this morning.
There were quite a few bird species, and I was most excited to photograph the lovely orioles!
Though I have seen this bird species before, I have never photographed them.
Check out @kass-and-bax and their urban mushing here!

Thank you! :)
I love it when the orioles return. Summer cannot be far behind. They are very late to arrive here in western WA. None are here yet.
They were beautiful, I've never seen so many so active together before. They were all out in the treetops singing and singing.
Do they usually arrive this late there?
Yes. Bullock's Orioles are relatively late to return to our area. The first ones are just showing now, pretty much on schedule. Here is the eBird bar chart for Pierce County WA. I am surprised that it shows them in the first week of May.
I didn't know about this chart, that is amazing.
Awesome Work!
